Go on tour with the sexy Kenner Brothers in Rock Steady, the first in the spin-off series from the award-winning Chord Brothers books.
Venom Kenner is the lead singer of Dirt Cherry, a band well known for their dirty lyrics and larger-than-life antics. With heart-stopping good looks, loving parents, and becoming famous at a young age, Venom is used to getting whatever he wants, whenever he wants it‑-and he wants Jenna.
Jenna Demptation’s life has been one hardship after another. When her older sister becomes the PR manager for Dirt Cherry and strong-arms Jenna to help for the summer, Jenna is happy to get away from her crappy day-to-day life. Until too-good-looking-to-be-real Venom sets his sights on Jenna and sets her nerves into overdrive. Jenna makes an art of shying away from Mr. Hot-Pants McHottie. She has been hurt way too much in the past to trust anyone, far less someone as perfect as Venom, so she’s determined to keep their relationship completely professional, despite their sizzling chemistry.
But Venom knows in his heart this relationship is worth a shot and he’s not going to let a little thing like hesitancy get in his way…

3.75 stars--ROCK STEADY is the first instalment in MJ Roberts’ contemporary, adult KENNER BROTHERS erotic, rock romance series, and the sixth instalment in the author’s ROCK HARD series. This is thirty-one year old, lead singer for Dirt Cherry Venom Kenner, and twenty-three year old, nursing student/PR promoter Jenna Demptation’s story line. ROCK STEADY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. You do not have to have read any of the previous story lines.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Jenna and Venom) ROCK STEADY focuses on the building romance and relationship between Dirt Cherry’s lead singer Venom Kenner, and nursing student Jenna Demptation. Venom Kenner fell in love with Jenna Demptation the first time they met but Jenna continued to avoid our hero, freezing him out when ever he wanted to talk. Working alongside her sister Kate (Rock Harder) on the PR for the all of the bands on the tour, Jenna finds herself focusing on our hero, the man with whom she will fall in love but Jenna struggles with demons from her past, believing she is unworthy of a man such as Venom Kenner. With the approach of a new school year, Jenna is about to enter nursing school while the band continues their concert tour in Mexico and Texas. Time apart forces Jenna to think about her future, a future that may or may not include our story line hero. What ensues is the building but trepidatious relationship between Jenna and Venom, as our couple must navigate the pitfalls of fame, and time spent apart of their chosen professions.
Jenna Demptation’s past continues to control her present, and in this, she is distrustful of men including rock star Venom Kenner. Venom is a rock god; a sexy, beautiful singer, a man Jenna believes is too good to be true. Jenna suffers with issues of low self esteem, believing she is not worthy of Venom’s love but Venom is desperate to prove she is worthy, pulling out all of the proverbial stops in his seduction of Jenna Demptation. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Venom’s ‘brothers’, the members of Dirt Cherry: Over-Kill, Knife-Edge, Clay, and Hair-Trigger, as well as the return of Kate and Jace (Rock Harder), and several members from the other bands..
ROCK STEADY is a story of family, friendships and relationships. We learn about Jenna’s horrific past, and the Kenner ‘brothers’ family of foundlings and love. The premise is engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive and hot; the characters are animated, a little broken, but healing.
My only complaint, is the abrupt ending. I actually went back and forth in the book, to determine if I was missing something or there was a formatting error. Something was missing, there was no build up to the final two epilogues.
As a fan of rockstar romances I gobble up each new book release like candy. Throughout five previous books readers have been sucked into the rockstar world of Ms. Roberts, fallen for each sexy band member, and now we're at the cusp of a spin-off series featuring dirty-talking Venom Kenner and the younger, more reserved Jenna Demptation. Though much about this book is familiar, in the hands of Ms. Roberts it's an entertaining read with a lot of heart and soul balanced out with steamy encounters and blush-worthy banter.
Venom Kenner reached fame at an early age, joining with a group of men with pasts as difficult as his, to become world famous while living a life where everything he wants is his for the taking. At least that was true before he met Jenna, the reserved and cautious young woman doing PR for his band's summer tour. From the outside Venom's a sexy, larger than life rocker, a man brimming with confidence and a bit of arrogance. He seems to be everything Jenna thought about rockstars, but as the story progresses readers learn about his sad past while seeing a caring and thoughtful man behind the facade as he pulls out all the stops to win Jenna over. I was drawn to Venom from the start and found his attempts to claim Jenna endearing. Add in the backstory of how he and the other members of Dirt Cherry came together as a pseudo-family and I fell for him even more. As for Jenna, she's had a difficult past of her own, a past that's heartbreaking to discover. It's left her with low self-esteem and teeming with self-doubts that have her running from Venom every time he looks her way. Theirs becomes a relationship full of push/pull, a relationship that addresses all the ups and downs of the rockstar lifestyle as jealousy and time apart from each other weighs on their future HEA.
On a whole this was a satisfying read with a likable main couple that I was rooting for every step of the way. Their connection was both sweet and sizzling with encounters that were romantic and heartfelt. Alongside this appealing main couple were the other members of Dirt Cherry, men with difficult pasts of their own, men without families who came together to form a family of their own. The glimpses you get of each band member were delicious morsels that have me excited for future installments. Though I found much to like about this book, the rather abrupt ending dimmed my enjoyment a bit, as did the predictable beliefs of Jenna as she completely bought into the "rockstar=untrustworthy" stereotype. With her heartbreaking past I can somewhat understand her doubts, but as Venom continued to prove himself to her I wish she'd been less doubtful. Despite those small quibbles this was an entertaining romance with appealing characters and a romance full of heart and soul that readers will want to gobble up too!
Rock steady is the newest book from author MJ Roberts rock romance series. Going into this book, I didn’t realize it was part of a series, but I was able to follow along pretty easily and learn who the different characters were.
This book focuses on Venom Kenner, lead singer for the band Dirt Cherry, and his budding romance with nursing student/PR promoter Jenna Demptation. Venom falls in love at first sight with Jenna, but she seemingly wants nothing to do with him, as she sees him as just another too handsome sex-crazed rock star, and why would he want to be with a nobody like her? Jenna is extremely damaged from her childhood trauma and does not want a relationship, but Venom’s perseverance helps chip away at her defenses. When Jenna leaves to go to nursing school and the band continues to tour in Mexico, the time apart forces Jenna to confront her past and think about her future. Is Venom a part of it? Can she let her walls down and finally let him in?
Jenna’s past has a hold on her in the present day, and it makes her wary and extremely distrustful of men, especially too handsome to be true sex gods like Venom Kenner. Jenna believes she is unworthy of someone like him, unworthy of being loved, and he tries everything in his power to get her to see that she IS worthy and he is not like the other men in her life. The love scenes are hot and passionate without the need for vulgarity. There were definitely moments of emotion in the story that had me tearing up too! I loved them as a couple!
Rock steady is a great story focusing on family, healing your past and love ❤️
Thank you to Ink Slinger and MJ Roberts for supplying me with an ARC for an honest review!
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this entire series, and even though this is the first in a connected series, I suggest you read the Hard Chord series first. Without even one minute or morsel to dislike about this book (unless the length is a deterrent), I fell for both Venom and Jenna. There was definitely more than meets the eye where he was concerned and under her tough exterior, well deserved or not, Jenna wanted what everyone wants: love. Venom had to work to get a chance with Jenna, she kept pushing him away. He came up with plans, and even though he came across as pushy from time to time, it was with caution and because he knew they could be great together. Hearings the way the boys of Dirt Cherry got together and their tight bond was great and hearing the reason behind Jenna’s walls was heartbreaking. When they were together they were explosive and seemed to work. Unfortunately, they have an end date and she erroneously thinks he is blowing her off on her last day with the tour. If he can get another chance he vows he will prove to her how much he cares about her. She vows to not let him close again. I adored this couple and can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I love rockstar romances and I read a lot of them. I have to stay I love the chemistry between Venom and Jenna. With Jenna terrible past and her not trusting anyone she keeps Venom at a professional distance. Venom believes that the relationship is worth the effort, but Jenna keeps freezing him out. She is only there because her sister Kate is doing PR for the bands on tour. The two could not be more different from each other. Jenna a struggling nursing student and Venom a famous lead singer for a rock band. It was a book I finished in one setting.
Told in dual pov, can be read as a stand alone. Venom is the lead singer to Dirt Cherry, and he's been in love with Jenna forever it seems, but she's always blown him, not because she's not attracted to him but she feels she doesn't deserve a man like venom, but when miles separate them will time apart show how they really feel.

I live this series, and this book didn't disappoint. I love all the characters and have enjoyed all their stories. I can't wait to find out Overkill 's story
