Göran Gnaudschun: Das bessere Leben / The better life

Murcia is a sun-drenched region on the Spanish Mediterranean coast that has attracted people for thousands of years. Today, Germans and Brits spend their retirement in the area. Workers from eastern Europe, Africa, and South America toil in the agricultural industry. In 2020, photographer Göran Gnaudschun travelled to Murcia for the exhibition " In Europe’s Garden" from the Mu-seum Europäischer Kulturen – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. He traced migration to and from the region and portrayed immigrants with their dreams and realities of life. The photographs and three accompanying articles offer a window into a formerly lesser-known part of Europe—into the present day of the Spanish region of Murcia.
