The Unsaid: Poetry For The Soul

When I sat in solitude,

I found my existence.

For that solitude was needed for me to strive,

To strive to find answers to my questions,

Which were hidden deep inside me.

So, I wrote till my heart opened up

And my pen could survive.

For I found answers to my Unsaid thoughts,

Which lay deep inside me…

“I romance with my words and call it poetry”

"I want to live a thousand times before I die.
I want to breath even before I survive.
I want to feel eternal on the surface of life..."

Poetries can tell a lot, they rise from deep within the heart of the poet or poetess and take possession of the mind of the reader. They make you believe in unbelievable and gives you immense pleasure even if it leaves you in great pain. One such poetry collection is 'The Unsaid'.

'The Unsaid' is a diverse collection of unsaid thoughts of the poetess. The poetries ranges from birth, life, love, heartbreaks and finally ends with finding oneself through spirituality.

"If you are hurt, it means you have loved.
If you are in pain, it means you've sacrificed."

Life is a beautiful journey, it has its spring and autumn but also it has winter and different shades of grey and so does this book. Throughout the book the poetess has tried to express her journey, her learnings. Each poetry is followed by quotes or rather say loosely written musings. Her emotional involvement in every part of this book is very profound.

Truth to be told I enjoyed the spiritual part mostly, I did enjoy the rest of the book and I do feel the emotions in the 'Pain' part, the severed tethered bond of love but in the spiritual part I felt more connected to the writing and how it was offering hope through spirituality and finding oneself is very distinctive.

" A part of me comes out when I write.
That's the way it lives."
– Nafiesa
Recently, I have started exploring poetry books, and 'The Unsaid' is my 3rd poetry book of this year. The Unsaid by Nafiesa is a collection of 68 poems that revolve around themes like Birth, Life, Love, Pain, and Spirituality. Each poem is short and crisp and is bound to evoke emotions among readers.
Most of the poems are followed by small quotes which were very relatable. Some of the quotes in the book that touched my heart are:
● "The bitter truth of Life is to Live!
You are perishing every day
So, cherish every moment."
● "Why do we try to be better than someone else?
We should all try to be just Good."
● "You cannot be good in everyone's books"
● "Completeness is not when you unite with someone else but when you reunite with yourself."
The poems in the book are easy to understand and hence won't take much time to read. I finished reading this book within two days. Some of my favorite poems in the book are, 'The Mother's womb', 'My Mama', 'I Am My Only Hope', 'This World', 'Undo', 'That One Girl', 'Ashes', and 'Light.'
All in all, 'The Unsaid' was a good one-time read for me. If you are someone who wants to start reading poetry books, then I will recommend you to pick up 'The Unsaid' by Nafiesa.

The Unsaid: Poetry for the Soul by Nafiesa is a brilliantly conceptualized anthology of poems which deals with the entire circle of life. Segregated into the five elemental phases – Birth, Life, Love, Pain and Spiritual, Nafiesa bares her soul through her poetry. Right from the mother’s womb to conquering your ego and living a content life, anecdotes of all worldly situations can be found through her poems. With over 60 poems in the series, this books a treat for poetry lovers. I remember reading it sitting by the window and while the raindrops fell on my window panes, I fell in love with three unforgettable poems from Nafiesa’s collection.

‘Fire and Ice’ condenses childhood to death in just fourteen lines! One’s younger self is always filled with enthusiasm and fire to achieve, prove and become the best; but as age takes over, trying to retain being the best is often clouded by egoism. At the end of a lifetime when just a breath stands between life and death one reminisces their journey and before freezing to ice, often asks if some things were worth the lifetime?

Remember how we say that an artist or a writer lives on through their works? ‘Ashes’ define that sentiment. No matter how we live our lives and the glory we see during it, all would one day disappear into ashes. But what really stays behind is the humane touch that we bring to the lives of people around us. Sometimes, just being there for someone works like magic.

When one finds the perfect ‘You’, the perfect better half, it works wonders. Life for any seemingly perfect couple will never be a bed of roses but having ones loved one beside makes them overcome all crises in a jiffy.

The Unsaid is definitely a calming read which invigorates the reader’s senses with thoughts so relatable that they might find themselves in the position of the poet in numerous instances! A sure recommendation for poetry lovers.

First of all, I would like to thank the author for giving me an opportunity to review such a wonderful anthology of poems.
The Unsaid is a one-of-a-kind poetry collection which can be characterised by its simplicity and serenity in verse. Consisting of 68 poems in total, this anthology explores certain aspects of life we are all acquainted with in one way or another, whether it is love, loss, hope, birth, or life itself.
What makes The Unsaid so unique is the fact that this anthology embodies the essence of human experiences in such a subtle manner. Sometimes, some ideas cannot be expressed in the fullest with the help of elaborate descriptions. The beauty of the poem gets lost, then. Instead, it is this lightness of the idea that is itself capable of being conveyed to the readers and audience with the help of images, metaphors, or subtle hints for that matter. In fact, it is this subtlety of ideas and thoughts which made it such a spellbinding read for me. Another reason why I liked reading The Unsaid is the simplicity of the language and the varying tonality in each of the poems. The sheer crispness of the language utilised constitutes more than half of the book’s magnificence. After all, it is the accounts of life experiences presented to the reader in the form of poetry. Most importantly, The Unsaid carries with its subjective feelings a note of universality; assuring its readers that others feel your agony or joy too. This “relatability” of emotions effected through some of the most riveting verses of this anthology makes The Unsaid such an engaging work of poetry. And, my favourite from the lot is – “Completeness is not when you unite with someone else but when you reunite with yourself.”
I convey my best wishes to the writer for her future endeavours.

"You can conquer places, not space.
You can capture moments but not time.
You can forget people, not feelings.
You can escape boundaries, not memories"

I used to love poetry back in high school but with time I have lost touch with it. It feels good to pick it back up. "The Unsaid" is a collection of 68 poems and an abstract. The poems are sorted based on the topic and there are 5 topics- Birth, Life, Love, Pain and Spiritual. The poems are short and free verse, I prefer them than rhyming ones. Some are as short as 5-6 lines while others are longer but no longer than a page. I love that the author has tried to capture love and heartbreak through various situations instead of just romantic love. You will get a variety of circumstances.

There are also quotes, followed by a poem. Not every poem has quotes but the ones that do are quite beautiful. I love the cover too, I think it's stunning. While some of the poems revoke strong reactions, a few were monotonous (my personal thought). I really liked the abstract towards the end.
I was able to finish it within 2 days. If you are looking for a bit of light reading in front of the fire place or under your blankets, then you should pick it up.

The words that most of us want to say or hear, many a times remain "unsaid."
Today we have a poetry book titled 'The Unsaid, Poetry for the soul by Nafiesa.
The cover has a moon on it and it gave a calming effect to me when I picked this book to read.
The collection of 68 poetries is divided into 5 sections namely - Birth, Life, Love, Pain and Spiritual.
Each section deals with varied emotion one goes through in a particular stage of the book.
The length of the poetries varies from 4 to 20 lines, giving the reader the taste of every emotion and enough time to grasp the "unsaid."
Poet Nafesia has added the quotes prior to every poem which adds value to the poetry and these quotes ably connects with the readers with the poetries.
There is no particular poetic style in the book, few are slam, few are rhymtic and few are very crisp.
One of the best poetry of the book is from section Pain titled 'Imprinted'.
An avid reader can complete this book in a day and it makes for a good light read.
Final Word: If you are new to poetry and want to enjoy the poetic world then this book can be good start. Poetries are simple and can be understood by all. Many unsaid expressions are presented in this poetry book.

"After a fall,
I don't rise,
I evolve."

'The Unsaid' by Nafiesa explores the unsaid and the unheard emotions of life that get buried somewhere as we grow older. The poet, through her poetry, finds a way out to express the hidden feelings of her heart.

The 68 poems spanning over five phases - Birth, Life, Love, Pain, and Spiritual - captured a multitude of emotions that are felt by all but rarely expressed. The poet poured her heart out in her words, and she truly went on to say the unsaid. The poem 'Perception', 'Ashes', 'That One Girl' are some of my favourites. The poems vary in length, yet what remains the same is the feeling that the author wants the reader to get. It's a calming read indeed.

All the poems had their own flavour. Some connected with my thoughts while others flowed right in. It is a plethora of emotions having their own ups and downs. The collection made me think and introspect at times. It gave me mixed feelings, which I feel is ideal in poetry.

This is ideal for beginners in poetry as it might give you a push to read more poetry and delve into the world of the unsaid.

“You can conquer places, not spaces.

You can capture moments but not time.

You can forget people not feelings.

You can escape boundaries not memories.”

- Memories, The Unsaid, Nafiesa

First off, I love the way this book is structured. It denotes the different phases of life. The Unsaid by Nafiesa is a collection of 68 poems split under five different topics – Birth, Life, Love, Pain and Spiritual. The cover of this book is a star. It is so dreamy and beautiful.

This was the first time that I read Nafiesa’s work. I was pleasantly surprised. Most poems hit me right in the heart. While I enjoyed a lot of poems in this book, I couldn’t connect with a few. Most of the poems followed the modern “free verse” poetry.

There were many poems I loved but my most favourite one was ‘Memories’ under the Love section. It was simple yet touching. There are captivating quotes before almost every poem. It kept the book engaging throughout.

Readers will come across a variety of themes under each subject. I would recommend ‘The unsaid’ to anyone who likes poetry and those who are looking for a quick read.

Stories help you imagine
Poetry helps you express
Words help you in reading
Silence helps you in understanding

The Unsaid : Poetry for the soul by Nafiesa is a book of poetry that truly consists of the unsaid words expressed into poetry. We feel things from the moment we are born on this earth, the moment we fall in love, the moment we feel pain and even in those moments when we are about to die.

The book consists of 5 parts which are Birth, Life, Love, Pain and Spiritual holding total 68 poems within them. My favourite section while reading this book was life. I felt the most relatable with the poem My mama because it said that we all carry a part of our parents and it made me feel good to know that a part of my own mother existed within me. The poetry are lucid and soothing, there were some grammatical errors which can be looked beyond. The quotes and snippets that were written before every poem were the most relatable ones. I loved everyone of those and I could see myself in them.

“I romance with my words and call it poetry”
– Nafiesa

I read The Unsaid by Nafiesa a while ago since I've been trying to read more poetry. The poems explore theme of Birth, Life, Love, Pain and Spirituality.

Apart from verses there are small quotes too that I really liked and resonated with. Its easy for me to read micro poetry since I never read old school ones.

Some of the lines really tugged at my heart because of their innocence.

"The best shelter in the world is the mother's womb"

It's not always that you come across verses that celebrate life in such way.

I don't know about others but I really liked the poems. The Mother's Womb, My Mama, I Am My Only Hope, Ashes, The Moon, Dreams were some of my favourites and some that I will keep going back to in future.

I loved the cover too. It's simple yet beautiful. Overall, if you want to get into poetry and don't where to start, you should definitely check this book out.

I have never been much of a poetry reader, but recently I have been trying to read more of it. I didn't waste time in picking up The Unsaid by Nafiesa.
I loved how each section of the book had number if poems dedicated to one particular theme. I found this poetry book to be very abstract. While reading the poems I realised that Nafiesa doesn't have any particular way to write poetry. The writing style, the lines in the poems kept on changing throughout the book. And I think maybe that is one of the reasons I could finish the book. What I also liked was that each poem was preceded by a quotation which was often related to the poem itself. It was nice to read those lines. I was already impressed by the section 'Birth', buy by the end of the book 'Pain' became my favorite set of poetry from the book.
I also absolutely adored the cover of the book.

'Either you get burnt in the fire
Or get buried deep into the soil'
Life is made up of many such unreal sounding real aspects and poet has tried to serve us all these instances and moments in the form of poetry.
With titles such as 'Stand by my side again', 'Soul', 'Existence', 'Another Chance' etc giving a few glimpses into life, love and beyond in the poet's easy to understand words are perfect for beginners.
The poetries are crisp, in layman's language and segregated into categories, Birth, Life, Love, Pain and Spiritual making navigation easy and ensuring that there is something in here for everyone.

Poems act as a balm to my soul. I chanced upon this book bcz it is penned by a friend's friend. I happened to read it and the poems I found were steeped in emotions and philosophy. This is a debut by the poetess and for a debut it was a good read. It is peppered with quotes alongside and I loved them as well.
