Eighteen of the world's most exemplary rural development successes from Africa, Asia, and Latin America are presented in the words of their originators and managers. This is a true story of hope that shows what can be done. Cases may be read individually for guidance or together for their cumulative advice on how to promote the most desirable forms of rural development.
This is a great read if you are interested in development studies. This book present 18 different success stories from the people who started the actual project or who have worked extensively with the project. They give short histories of the area, what was needed, how they constructed/started the project, who was involved etc. You can really see how development project succeed. The main themes between them all is local participation and continual upkeep. I only found article in the whole book in which could have been written better, the others are great references. I will be pulling many quotes from this book and defiantly use it for future project. I recommend this book if you are studying development.
This read is for an on-line class I have signed up for. It has been a while since I was in a class (of course this is e-learning so different), but so far it is nice to read for a purpose greater than enjoyment.
