中国节日的故事

Rate this book
The Chinese people have a history of 5,000 years of civilization. Information about the origins of Chinese traditional festivals not only helps us to understand the customs and everyday habits of the Chinese but also their rich cultural heritage. The reader will be intrigued to learn that many of the stories associated with Chinese festivals have evolved with the changes in the development of Chinese civilization and as a consequence have become an integral part of Chinese culture. Because of the progress of science and technology, and the gradual shedding of ethnic traditions for modern and universal ways, many Chinese are no longer able to tell how their festivals originated. This is especially true of Chinese communities outside their homeland. This book on the origins of the festivals and popular stories associated with them will help the reader to appreciate how the celebration of these festivals acted as a social glue in identifying and helping the Chinese stick together as a race throughout their long history and wherever they are found. .

Sama seperti seri (?)

* Lunar New Year -> lebih dikenal sebagai Tahun Baru Imlek kalau di Indonesia yah; saya sendiri lebih mengenalnya dengan sebutan Xin Nian atau Sin Chia
* Yuan Xiao Festival -> dari ceritanya, saya masih belum ngeh ini tentang perayaan apa tapi setelah googling, saya akhirnya ngeh kalau ini mengenai perayaan Cap Go Meh
* Cold Food Day -> saya pribadi baru pernah dengar >_<
* Qing Ming Festival
* Dragon Boat Festival -> ada yang menyebutnya perayaan Tuan Wu atau perayaan Peh Cun
* The Chinese Valentine's Day
* Zhong Yuan Festival -> ada yang mengenalnya dengan sebutan Ullambana, sembayang Cioko atau Hungry Ghost Festival
* Mid-Autumn Festival -> lebih dikenal dengan nama Mooncake Festival yah; kalau saya pribadi mengenalnya sebagai perayaan Tiong Ciu Pia
* Chong Yang Festival -> saya pribadi baru pernah dengar >_<
* Dong Zhi -> sama seperti Yuan Xiao festival, saya baru ngeh setelah googling, hahaha... Mama biasa melafalkannya sebagai Tang Ce, perayaan makan onde

Well, I’m a Chinese, and this book gives me insights of why we are still practicing our Chinese customs. Interesting to read for knowledge purposes. Some simple recipes available in the book too!
