Sarja is a sad, angry boy. At 11, he looks big and strong for his age. His kind mother, Geeta is a rural Indian archetype: the overworked, stressed-out, barely-keeping-it- together single mother. His father is in prison for multiple robbery cases. The villagers are cold and overbearing, and his schooldays are made hellish by bullies. If this wasn’t enough, he has nightmares and uncanny callings from the age-old monstrous Peepal tree that lays on his way to school. The legend is a monster called Brahma Rakshas, living under this tree, for years unknown to people, lures kids with the black devil fruits and then makes them wrestle until one dies.
And, one stormy night, the legend comes true when Brahma Rakshas meets Sarja.
Set in a fictional village of Deogiri; a small haven of human civilization, away from the din of city life, this story is an adventure ride filled with riddles and monster wrestling.
Fantasies are always a delightful read. This is a short, quick and easy read. It centres around a little boy Sarja who is 11 and lives in a village where he has a very tough social life. The social conditions and bitter childhood have turned him into a short-tempered boy who is always insecure and hardly trusts anybody. He wants a peaceful life on his own terms. But, a nightmare made his life tougher. That dream is about a monster Brahma Rakshas. Do not confuse it with just a children's book adults can definitely read, enjoy and learn from it. The way the author has characterised the emotions but is not overpowered with anything is really a beautiful way to make it stand.

Brahma Rakshas by Sandiip N. Paatil is a story of an 11-year-old boy Sarja whose life is turned upside down by some turbulent and scary dreams with the tendency to come true. He stays in a village with her mother Geeta. His father is a thief, he doesn’t rob the villagers but also Sarja’s and her mother's dignity. His life is not easy, something is happening that is making it even more difficult. He has a bully in school, a burden to gain respect for him and his mother, and a fight with a monster. Yeah, you heard it right monster “The Brahma Rakshas. Who is Brahma Rakshas? How will he defeat him? Sandiip does a brilliant job in writing this short novel. The element of mystery is great and very well developed. I loved the way Sarja is resilient and determined to find a solution to his dreams and everything that was happening around him. The charm of the book is the theme, which portrays how an individual becomes a victim of the inherent nature of human evil, jealousy, anger, and insecurities. I love the true friendship of Sarja and Meena. Overall, this is a must-read, especially for children and teens.
Most important life lesson written beautifully, interesting and engaging with adventure by the author
The story reveals how the main character Sarja ,the little boy learns the life's best lesson by fighting with 3 monsters.I loved the meena character sarjas best friend so sweet and calm in all kind of situations.A life time remember "you can't fight anger with anger". I recommend all to read this book especially this fun filled fictional adventure can be read by children.
I always read a small book post my massive reading session nd before I begin with something huge. Brahma Rakshas seemed to be a new genre for me. A children Fantasy book. I have been reading a lot of fantasy and this seemed to be a perfect choice
So, the story goes like, in a small village named Deogiri resides a brahma rakshasa who is believed to be the spirit of a Brahmin, who has done evil things in his life or has misused his knowledge. The main character of the book Sarja (an 11 year old kid) is bullied by his schoolmates, his father is in jail and his mother the over-working stressed out lady and even if these things did not suffice destruction of his mental state. He has nightmares of callings from an old monstrous peepal tree where resides a brahma rakshas who captivates kids with some black soul and ends up their lives.
On one stormy night Sarja meets the brahma rakshasa and what happens next, you will come to know when you dive into the mystery of the book.
A perfect story for any beginner to start up reading plus building up your imagination power! The start where the "phatt" sound of the old women Ajji killing the new born to the "phatt" sound of the window pane that wakes Surja up from his dream is such a minute detail that adds sound effects to my imagination!
Sarja, an 11yr old boy is angry with his life and the people around him. He and his mother face social injustice everyday that he vows to fightback exasperatedly. Adding to their distress, Sarja gets nightmares about the Brahman Rakshas, the legendary devil, that resides under a large tree in the middle of their village. Though he doesn't believe in the blind faith and refutes it as a mere superstition, he cannot ignore the dreams that seem awfully real.
One-night he comes face to face with the Brahma Raksha and witnesses the very legend that he has been adamantly denying, unfolding in front of him. What follows is a trail of riddles and wrestling bouts which may help him escape the inevitable.
▪️My Opinion:
This 'coming of age' story is set in a socially backward fictional village called Deogiri which is cut off from the urban civilization. The theme and the setup is surprisingly fresh and exciting from the very beginning. The writing, the flow and the narration is easy and simple. It has its moments of thrill and humour precisely placed which creates a balance needed for the young adult readers.
I would highly recommend the book to those young readers who like to read about supernatural fiction with splash of controlled violence in it.
No one is born bad or good. They both stays into us, ans it's we who decide which to dominate on other. "Brahma Rakshas:The Monster Within" by Sandiip N Paatil is a fictional story which narrates the tale of Sarja, a eleven year naughty, curious and short tempered boy. The story starts with a birth of boy with one extra thumb and was considered as a devil. Yes the BrahmaRakchas and he was killed mercilessly by an old lady. Sounds horrifying right? The next chapter spins around the boy Sarja whose father was a thief. He and his mother was bullied often for their self respect. There was a tree in the village and that was considered to be the most fearful because the BrahmaRakchas ( the devil) stays in it.. Sarja's life was becoming miserable not just because of the bully he faced but also because of the dreams he saw. One day BrahmaRakchas steal his money, he got by his hard work. All this was so scary for and its bind the thrill this book promise to deliver. Sarja bravely faced the struggles and wanted to find the answers of his dreams. Did he found them? Do BrahmaRakchas really exist? Or was it just an imagination of a little boy? Was his money stolen by BrahmaRakchas? Every question has its answers in this book filled with thrill and suspence. I really loved the way it is written and helps you know how to be happy in every situation life throws on us. Overall I'll totally recommend this book to everyone ✨
Brahma Rakshas by Author Sandiip N Patel is a fantasy story book. The story revolves around a eleven year old boy named as Sarja who used to live with her mother, Geeta in the small village Deogiri.
Sarja faced a tough and bitter childhood which turned him into a sad, short tempered and angry boy who hardly trusts anybody. The rural people of the village used to bully Sarja and his mother as his father had a criminal background and still is in prison for multiple robbery cases.
These bullies forced Sarja to create his own identity and he was collecting money for this reason. But his money was stolen somehow. There was a belief that the huge peepal tree will save the villagers from the terror of the monster named Brahma Rakshas.
Sarja has nightmares and uncanny callings from an age old monstrous peepal tree. One storm night , Sarja faced the monster himself whom he believed to be fake.
Set in a fictional village of Deogiri, a small haven of human civilization, away from the din and bustle of city life, this story is a coming-of-age story of a young boy who goes on an adventurous ride filled with riddles and monster wrestling. The author did a superb work in creating a fantasy tale spreading a strong moral message. Language is easy and lucid with simple narrative style.
The book Brahma Rakshas is an amazing book that teaches about life and how precious it is through a fun story revolving around a boy named Sarja and the monster Brahma Rakshas. The book teaches us that it is important to stay calm through the struggles of life and that anger doesn't do any good. The author doesn't fail to bring out that everybody deserves a second chance, and that no body is what we expect them to be. Even a hugely terrifying monster can be someone with a good heart who just needs a second chance. Throughout the book, we understand that we are the sole persons who need to find our demons to lead a peaceful life. We also need a good influence on our lives, like Meena is for Sarja. I would recommend this book to the people who struggle with their lives. This book will help them see things in a different way.
This fabulous fantasy story revolves around a little boy named Sarja. He is 11 years old. He lives in a village where his personal and social life seems to be very difficult for him. The entire village mocks Sarja and his mother as his father is a thief.
While Sarja is going through all these difficulties another storyline runs in parallel. It is all about a monster named Brahma Raksha.
There is a big peepal tree in the village. The villagers trust that the tree is the home for that monster. But Sarja, though being a little boy, never believed this story.
One night, Sarja meets the Brahma Raksha and what happens next forms the rest of the story.
This book could be most recommended for children and teens. Even the general audience who loves reading fantasy stories will for sure find this story interesting. The language used is lucid and easily understandable. Grab your copy and get into the world of fantasy!
Brahma Rakshas Written by Sandip N Patil I bought and read this book with great interest. There will be very exciting and scary events in this type of story. Get a special energy. His was a thief, he was in jail. On the way Sarja's school there was a terrible peep tree. Legend has it that there is a Brahma Rakshas under that tree. Although no one had seen it, they believed that it was the devil who showed children fruit and attracted them.
So on a stormy night, Sarja sees that Brahma Rakshas. The story then goes on to say that the narrative contains some moral messages. The events that followed set him apart from the Sarja's childless confidence and courage at that age. The author demonstrated a good ability to shape characters. The simple conversations style is also beautiful. Very interesting story. I liked the character Sarja. I recommend you guys.

Brahma Rakshas revolves around a 11 years old boy, Sarja, who look way more mature and big for his age. He was quite short tempered boy, who live with his single mother and his father was in prison for he committed multiple robberies. The family has lost all the respect in the village and villagers used to taunt them. The boy Sarja was so innocent that he thought to collect lots of money to buy a coat, so that he could regain all the lost respect in the eyes of villagers. Apart from these all he also have unreal dream of tree under which a Brahma Rakshas lives and he also meet him in real. What happens after they met? Was Brahma Rakshas real? Or was it his dreams?

The story and all the characters have portrayed well. Writing style is engaging and interesting. A very good work by the author.
Lucid language used. Title and cover are apt to the plot. Overall enjoyed reading.
It is a book around the light of 11 year old boy. He lives in a village and faces challenges with his life. The conditions of the surrounding are unable that is why his childhood was very tough that made him short tempered and insecure about himself. His family was not recognised to be good and his father was badly termed in the society.
Sajra was young, he wanted to live peacefully, making own identity. It's a fantasy book filled with adventures. The children will fall in love with the ease of the book. The author has added elements of a rakshas living under the peepal tree for years. How did this connect with Sajra's story. Read to find out.
The story brings out the moral lesson beautiful with the twists and turns of adventures.
The story twirls around an odd town, where a six fingered child is viewed as sick sign and is censured as beast by locals, since the time then shocking tales about him frequenting the town begins circling. Sarja, who is constantly seen as problematic gets this piece of story from his companion Meena.
Interest and creative mind carries Sarja nearer to this very appalling 25 feet tall beast Brahma Rakshas who grabs his investment funds and flees.
The remainder of the story boldly catches Sarja's pursuit of Brahma Rakshas to get his cash back. This pursuit at last unfurls and disperses part of misinterpretations that Sarja has about himself and the things around him making it a significant and educational excursion.

"Brahma Raksha", the name itself describes the book but this book is much more than that . The story is about an eleven year old boy named Sarja who lived with his mother. The villagers used to bully Sarja and his mother as his father had a criminal background .
While Sarja has his hardships , there is another story . This belongs to the monster named Brahma Raksha . There was a huge peepal tree in the village and the villagers believed that this tree protects them from the terror of that monster . But Sarja never believed that story .
One night during the storm , Sarja encounters the monster . He never believed that story but now he cannot deny it any longer . This encounter sets the remaining story which is truly Amazing .
Children will often find this book fascinating as it has a good story with a great message . Don't judge the book by its title only , it is more than that . The author's work is worth appreciation for writing such a story . Worth reading .
When I saw the book cover, it appealed to me and for some reason, I was very eager to read the book. The cover is intriguing and so is the title. And I am very glad that I read it.
Coming to the plot, the story is about an eleven-year-old boy Sarja living in a village with his mother Geeta. His only friend and confidante in the village is Meena. With his father’s reputation of being a criminal, he is often scoffed and quipped by a bunch of bullies at school and they are disrespected now and then by the villagers. But Sarja is rebellious, brave and confronts everyone. However, due to his harsh conditions, and the hardships to sustain a living, he is short-tempered and often enraged. This makes him brawl and fight with everyone almost every day, even his mother.
Meanwhile, there is a gory tale about a huge Peepal tree and the Bramha Rakshas that resides there for centuries. There are beliefs and sayings about the demon devouring children if they lose in a wrestle with him. And then Sarja’s fate gets entwined with the demon when he accidentally crosses the path of the huge tree. And then he starts facing the battles of his life, in the form of riddles, which would change his life forever.
The book is written in an impressive style and it's very smooth. The author has relayed strong messages in the form of life lessons flawlessly and in a pretty thoughtful way. The narration and the storytelling skill is rich. I liked the witty writing style and I absolutely enjoyed the read.
The Book Brahma Rakshas is a children's fiction story about Sarja Meeting Brahma Rakshas.
The book is definitely recommended for kids who love reading something scary like a Rakshas. We as a child were shared many such instances from our elders. This definitely ticks all the boxes for that. And what better way to end on a meaningful note. As an adult, you could predict what and how it means.
This made me feel like it's a beautiful blend of all the mythological stories or panchtantra stories that I used to read when I was kid along with the scooby dooby cartoon , its beautiful and I will not tell the beautiful ending or essence of the story but it's really great to have such stories and read them which people of any age can enjoy and learn from it .
I felt the way author has characterised the emotions but not overpowered with anything is really a beautiful way to make it stand out as well as blend . I felt Sarja character is also rightly built showing the courage and tenderness which normally a person shows at that age . A good book even for children .
Sarja is like that every person who does the exact work out of curiosity which they are told not too and that is what makes this child fiction story even more relatable and better to read .
The book is centred around a small boy of 11 years who resides in a village. As the social conditions prevail around him, he becomes aggressive, he wants to make peace with his life but is facing some problems and then he dreams of Brahma Rakshas. This dream changes his life.
