A Page Left Blank

Note: The book was temporarily published on an online reading site : Wattpad where it was available for some time. The material is no longer available as the author is approaching conventional publishing houses for official publication in print.

Rufaida is many things. She’s soft-spoken and gentle, talented and confident. Raised in an environment where she had to see her mother grind to meet basic necessities, she has numerous ambitions. Her journal is jotted with plans to fulfill and dreams to conquer. Leafing through the cluttered pages, living life while arduously ticking off goals, what she doesn’t see coming is an empty sheet. A blank page titled Ahmed.

Set in a Muslim household, A Page Left Blank follows the journey of Rufaida and her encounter with the twin siblings. One in whom she finds a friend, and the other who remains a mystery, a man who is to question the terror she’s been harboring within her since childhood - the M-word.

----
For a long time, society has played a crucial, often devastating role in shaping the minds of young girls. Especially in the desi culture, marriage is a subject that receives mixed reactions. We’ve heard of cases of trauma and harassment and witnessed the appalling conduct of extremists that brush away such incidents due to the frequency of their occurrence. Beyond the enticing idea of love, is the fear of not having your commitment equally reciprocated. Inspired by this narrative, the book dwells on the themes of faith, friendship, companionship, and wrong judgments that lead to right realizations and epiphanies.

Honestly, this book has little ACTUAL romance, and in my opinion that is the best kind of book. It gave me such an iman boost and has given me so many lessons and had motivated me to do better. This book has some psychology lessons, if that makes sense and it shows how to deal with these problems in an islamic way. I love this book and I appreciate the writer so much!

A book with the best Muslim Representation

May Allah bless the pen with which she writes because I'm always in awe of the way she writes. The way she inspires us and moves us closer to Allah.

This was such a good book with two stories of twin brother and sister. I have no words to describe how this book made me feel except that I wish, I really wish this book reaches a larger audience. Especially young muslim girls.

I wished I had books like these to turn to when I was growing up and going through the same stages of lives as Afreen & Rufaida.

I could relate to both women somehow and my heart was leaping out of my chest to find out the end. (Almost skipped to the last chapter because I was so curious to know how it would end but I remained patient with Ahmed and Rufaida 😉 to see how their story unfolds)

Incredible love the lessons and pearls of wisdom spread across the stories and the poems too.

I admire the comedy timing of all the characters in the book. The sibling bond felt so natural even with cousins and the kids.

As I continued to read, I kept highlighting paragraphs and adding my notes as if I was reading it on Wattpad, the way I had done for all the other works of Sarah.

Sarah if you're reading this, you admire me to become a writer like you. I can only hope I can carry the message you share in your books with such eloquence as yours. 🥹❤️

PLEASE CONTINUE TO WRITE MOREEE ❤️❤️
