Corporate dweller by day and fiction writer by night, C.Y. Stewart is a multi-cultural storyteller whose work has been published in multiple languages.

Born and raised in China, C.Y. endured a very humble childhood, naturally immersed in Asian culture through her formative years. Through focused efforts, she studied Chinese Literature and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Arts from Peking University. In 2014, she immigrated to the United States in pursuit of her dreams. In 2019, C.Y. founded Cold Ridge Publishing (www.coldridgepublishing.com) in Missouri, USA. The company's mission is to demonstrate, through cross-cultural literature, that we all share a common human story.

In some of her works, you can often glimpse a hint of oriental myth narration, which lends her writing a unique perspective and style. In her well-acclaimed Carrie and Steve Series, she employs a combination of western humor and adrenaline-pumping suspense, while exploring the possibilities of supernatural myth, modern day science, and the unpredictable facets of humanity.

She currently resides in St. Louis, Missouri with her husband, Steve, and their dog, Yulo.

OMG! These are the most gullible people on the planet! Having pariticipated in several group trips, I have a hard time believing this educated couple would put their trust in such a sketchy "friend."

Poor and odd use of words and phrases. Desperately in need of an editor.

Unbelievable

This is the first time I have read a book that has been written in the I narrative. There are sections where the author fills you in on her thoughts Very Unique.

Very exciting. I’ve known psychopaths, but always geared away. Definitely something to be aware of.

A complete waste of time. I’m not sure how it was even published. The story was all over the place.

I was very interested in this book since it takes place in my hometown, especially since I know of all the places that she wrote about. I feel like there were stories or events that could be elaborated on. What happened with the cars/car accident after Ricco ran? Did she get in touch with Lisa's family or have a memorial for her? The ending was the most extreme part, and I felt like that was brushed over. Also, what is Ricco's real name?? If he is on the loose in MO, I would love to know real names.

I was interested in reading this because of the locations in the book (Meramec Caverns, shopping mall and Dicks, etc.). I'm a St. Louis native so I could relate to the places. But, I did not like the fact that she kept inserting her thoughts during the story. I found it aggravating. Also, why would these folks keep believing Ricco's lies and stories and go along with the "plan"? Glad I bought this book at a yardsale for $1.00.

Author is from St. Louis so very interesting to hear storyline was near Eureka, Fenton and Meremac Caverens. But I couldn't get into. Seems when I did, she'd cut in with "well let's go back to why this person is like this? And then u read on get interested again and "well going back to this summer this and this happened" finally decided to just say heck with it and grab a different book.

I wanted to like it because it takes place in Missouri, but no, this was a DNF for me. I was reading with a combination of kindle book and audiobook...the audiobook made it unbearable with the AI generated "reading". The story is in great need of an editor and the characters were to stupid/gullible to be believable...and I read a lot of "out there" thriller books.

fast read

I enjoyed this fast read. It takes place in Missouri. It may be that since I have been to these locations, I found it interesting. Not a lot of character development, but still kept my interest.

couldn’t put it down!

Thought it was a good easy read. I’ve floated this river many times. It’s nice to read things so close to home. Tragic events thank you for sharing may your healing begin.

The story is interesting.
I agree with the other review… gullible!!!
The authors form of writing was very hard for me to read. I would have actually not even finished the book if the events did not take place 15 minutes from my home.

I know this was supposed to be a Ricco rant, and he is a despicable person, but I kept thinking, “fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me”. I liked the local Missouri flavor, but this book needed better editing.

I devoured this in a few short hours although I was so mad at the main characters. They had so many opportunities to get out of the situation and they just kept dealing with Ricco and paying for his shit. This book will infuriate you but it was an addicting and fast read.

Not sure if this is based on a true story or not. But all I kept thinking was how stupid these people were. Over and over they were stupid.

This is my favorite of the many books I have read all year. The characters had a very real-life feel about them. I am hoping to see more works by this author.

This was so good actually. A quick read to get out of a rut. But didn’t love the ending, it kinda just stopped. Do recommend though.

Insane journey. I don’t know why these people would continue to include such a toxic person in their trip… it didn’t make sense to me.
