YOGA VASISTHA

Rate this book
The English translation of the Vasistha Yoga Samhita ( Yoga-Vāsiṣṭha ), one of the historically popular and influential texts of Vedantic philosophy written by sage Valmiki from an Advaita-vedanta perspective. This version of the text contains 6,000 verses. The book recounts epic narratives and fables similar to puranas and chronologically precedes the Ramayana. Written in the form of replies given by a great sage Rishi Vasistha to Prince Sri Rama’s queries, it touches upon philosophical problems of life and death, and human suffering, and treats the essentials of Advaita Vedanta. The Yoga Vasistha is believed to answer all the questions that arise in the human mind, and is notable for expounding the principles of Maya and Brahman, as well as the principles of non-duality and Yoga.
