Victoria Terrinoni’s book, Where You Go I Will Go, is a guide for military spouses. The author combines humor, resilience, marriage, and patriotism into a format that evokes memories of an intimate conversation with a good friend over a cup of hot coffee.
Terrinoni's honest, insightful story of thirty-one years of life with her Air Force chaplain husband will help any new spouse embarking on a similar journey. The lessons learned after each chapter provide a quick recap of the key takeaways to keep in mind and are invaluable.
Where You Go, I Will Go is organized by topic and is easy to read and retain information. This book provides tools to help a new military spouse acclimate, including an appendix of acronyms and abbreviations vital to know as well as online and on-base resources.
Told from a military officer spouse’s frame of reference. I liked the lessons learned at the end of each chapter. I appreciated the book’s 7 part organization, as every military spouse goes through their own version (Beginning, PCS [moving], Combating loneliness, Deployments, Living the lifestyle, Promotions, and End). Thank you for triggering memories of my own journey, especially the changes and appreciation of communication methods while separated (morale calls, handwritten letters, emails, Skype, etc).
My friend? The author! And while I am not a military spouse I enjoyed this book because I can easily see how helpful it would be to them. It's very readable and well-organized. The personal stories show how Ms. Terrinoni truly is an expert on the topic and are often fun and real. Plus knowing her and her husband I liked picturing them in those experiences. I highly recommend this book to military spouses.
This is a short little book that reads like a memoir but serves as a manual for anyone who is a military spouse or who moves often. Many of the military life examples serve equally well to help someone who moves for other reasons, as well. Victoria writes in an easy-to-read style, making it feel like you are having a chat with a friend.
This book is a great resource for people who have a military spouse. The author discusses how to navigate multiple moves, making new friends, shopping at the commissary, etc. I enjoyed the usefulness of this book as well as the upbeat presentation.
As a first time military girlfriend and first time having to go through deployment is hard. This book really helped me have more of an understanding of things!
Where You Go is a great read. It brought back memories of my own travels in the military. The author’s account of military family life is spot on. She combines humor, grit, and duty to country into a curl-up-with-hot-chocolate-on-the-sofa read from cover to cover. No
Totally enjoyed reading this book as a long time active duty spouse. Seems we all had/have very similar experiences. Great for new spouses to read to get an idea of all the wonderful and interesting life experiences as a military spouse. Laurie Miller
As an Army Veteran I found the information in this book accurate and informative. Learning some military basics while reading a down home story made it entertaining while gaining knowledge. The short review bullet points at the end of each section were also helpful. Humorous, heartwarming and a lovely read. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
I loved this book! My husband just left for a six month deployment, and I wanted to find a book to help me with my upcoming struggles. I could relate to the author in so many ways! The author’s humor put a great spin on things and made her stories real. This book should be recommended at newcomer briefings and within Airman and Family Readiness Centers. Excellent!
