A dangerous game of chess is at work and I don’t know how to play.

had one job. Protect Misty. Protect the woman I loved. I’m a cop, it should have been second nature. Instead, I bring evil into our house and she got kidnapped. I have a new job. Find out how a cop from Los Angeles and a cop from New Orleans got together to plot to kidnap Misty in the first place. Dillion would have known he would have gotten busted helping Jake. The who, what, and why aren’t making sense and I don’t know if Misty is still in danger.

I need my friends to look where I can’t legally. Our hunt leads us to a man who only goes by Rook. He’s the link between Dillion and Jake and he’s playing a dangerous game of chess. Rook has pawns and knights under his control and I’m guessing he’s mad as hell someone as small as Misty lost him some of his players.

I’m surrounded by snakes and I don’t know who to trust. I have to figure out who is a knight and who is a pawn so that they can lead me to Rook before anything happens to Misty and my friends.

If you like heat in a romance you're in for one hell of a ride with this story and series. This is the second book I've read in this series and I enjoyed it as much as book one. It is a reverse harem story which might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I liked the diversity of characters who in my opinion were very well crafted and unique.
The heroine is a girl named Misty who is being hunted by dirty cops who are stealing drugs from evidence and doing and selling them. I found that the first book described all the whys a little better than this one. But there is a good mystery wound around this story.
Misty goes on the run to hide from her step-father who is one of these bad cops. She lands in New Orleans and stumbles upon four of the hottest guys you'll ever meet--Casey the cop, Aiden the artist, Gareth her guard and Andre the chef. They take her in and become her protectors and in this story Misty and her protectors are trying to get to the bottom of who is actually behind this bad cop drug ring.
As far as the romance end of this story, Misty ends up falling in love with all four of her sexy protectors. They end up falling for her too and want her to choose, but Misty can't. She loves them all equally but for different reasons. So an arrangement is forged between the five. Misty gets to have them all. This story focuses on her relationship with Casey, her cop. He's the one investigating this bad cop drug ring, but the other guys who are all his best friends are doing their best to help. A lot of the book is in Casey's POV and you see much vulnerability in him. He wants so desperately to keep Misty safe. You see that he loves her. You also see how hard it is for him to accept this four-way arrangement because he always fears Misty will choose one of his friends to be with exclusively. Will she or won't she? And will Casey break this case and catch the bad guys who want Misty dead?

the second book in the Dangerous Chess series, we see more corruption by cops, drug deals, and a kinky strip club that uses blackmail for leverage.

you can read this as a standalone, and you will enjoy the personal and relationship development between the main characters.

as part of the series, it is revealing how widespread the network of blackmail. drugs and property and other theft goes.

our fearsome ex military band of buddies and their woman Misty have a tough road ahead, trying to unravel the network and stay safe in the process.

adult erotica along with the bullets, bombs and beaurocratic bs.

A brilliant read. I love this series. I don't want it to end. Good story and characters. Although I didn't like Jake or Serena. 5*.

Casey is on the hunt deep on the inside for Misty's step father so he cannot hurt her anymore. Casey is a cop so between him and his friends they should be able to protect her, but she gets kidnapped. Now they have to play by the rules of someone named Rook. It is a fine tuned game of chess and JB has me guessing already, I love the challenge and all the drama.

My second book by this author. I'm thrilled I picked this face paced series of hers. I'm totally hooked.

The story continued where book one ended. From the first page to the last had me wonder who did it? Can Casey figure this mystery out as he and his best friends protect Misty? I can't wait to find out!

This is the 2nd book in the series & while I suppose it could be read as a standalone, my personal opinion is you should read 'FUGITIVE (Misty) Dangerous Chess 1' first. This way you'll better understand all 5 characters, how they came to be together & their dynamic.
Book 1 explained how Misty came to be living with Casey, Andre, Aiden & Gareth & why they are so protective of their beloved Misty. The 4 Knights saved Misty from an evil enemy in the 1st book & but in this 2nd book as Casey (a police detective) delves deeper into the defeated enemy all 5 are horrified to realize that the REAL foe is an unknown & powerful Chess Master only known as ROOK, has his pawns, knights & Queen on a board that covers the entire U.S. & is orchestrating his/her pieces for a much larger & darker game then Casey & the others could have ever imagined.
And now, with their digging, Misty & her 4 Knights have come to the attention of ROOK . . . .
Again, IMO the author does an excellent job of character development, we learn more detailed background about Casey: his past relationships, his career, his personality & why he shuts himself off from Misty & his friends. There is a lot of tension & the addition of ROOK & his players into the plot really ramp the suspense up. I continued to be very interested in the 5 main characters, their feelings & dynamic. I also found the plot to be as fascinating in this book as the 1st. I love how despite his inclination to be possessive of Misty, Casey fights the urge because of his love & respect for his 3 lifelong friends.
But the overriding focus & concerns of Casey & his friends is to protect Misty at all costs.
I very much liked this entry in the series & look forward to reading the next two.

Casey acts like this big hard a**. Acts as though he has no intention of having anything to do with Misty. But soon learns he is far gone for her that he needs her more than he ever thought possible. He finds his strength and love in her. He at first is jealous and worried he will lose her because she will eventually go back on their agreement and choose one of them over the rest. But in reality, she loves them all individually and as a whole. They work like a well-oiled machine with Misty. Casey will stop at nothing to protect and make Misty happy. He doesn't quite realize it at first but Misty is what he has always needed in his life. She completes him. And although he didn't listen to his commanding officer, I am glad he wasn't killed in the blast. Misty and the boys would be devastated. I wonder what else Rook has up his sleeve for this group and I wonder even more now what he wants with Misty.

This is the second installment in this series.

Casey is trying to link Misty's step-father so other corrupt cops. While investigating its taking a toll on him and he starts to isolate himself more from Misty and the other guys. Misty isn't about to let him brood alone and constantly shows up to talk to him about his day. Casey gets even more connected to Misty by her way of caring for him but he still stresses about whether they'll be able to bring her step-father down. Will his investigation lead them where they can keep Misty safe from her step-father?

This is a great story and will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what will happen next. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend it to any book lover.

This is book tow in a series. Definitely need to read the first in the series. I do not feel that a reader would be able to fully follow the story line without having done so. Not quite enough clear references to first book

This book follows one of the guys, Casey, and his thoughts and reactions as the story progresses from book one. At times I found him to be a bit shallow or insecure. Have a hard time with that becasue of his profession. Not typical of the ones I know.

I felt like this book was written too fast after the first one. My ARC copy had a continuity issue that I need to work out in my head so story would work. Hopefully, author will fix that soon.

This is my honest and freely given review. I received an ARC book.

his is the second book in the series and follows on from the first one. It contains enough background information to read this one first, but I recommend reading Fugitive first.
The pov is from Casey, which took a couple of pages to get used to, but gives a different viewpoint in this series. The action is fast paced, the bedroom bits are steamy., This is one of the better erotic stories I have read.
The story might be on the shorter side, but is worth the money. You feel Casey's frustration and how Misty helps to keep him calm.
It's a real page turner, JB gets you hooked in quickly and before you know it, you're at the end and biting the nails to get hold of the next.
this is a series I thoroughly recommend. An erotica with a decent story-line. Not to be missed.

This book was so good that by the fourth or fifth chapter, I decided I needed to go back and read the first book. I didn’t want to miss anything. I flew through the first book and then picked up where I left off.

This book is amazing. It’s got a great dramatic story of kidnapping, attempted murder, breaking and entering, shooting, intelligence gathering, bombs, trying to figure out who’s after Misty and why and then throw in hot sex with one, two, three, or four men, who Misty is in love with and they are totally in love with her, and you’ve got an awesome book. I loved it and can’t wait to read the rest in the series.

I had a little bit of trouble getting into this story due to the style of writing. The beginning was mostly paragraphs of thoughts rather than dialogue. Once I got further into it, I found the story intriguing. The added dialogue definitely helped. There was drama, suspense and intrigue to go along with some very interesting characters. The author has created a long haul series which is playing out in a very intense manner. There were some very steamy scenes between many characters. There was also a storyline that began with the previous book and will continue in the next. Still, a very good read.

In this book we get to see everything from Casey’s point of view - I was eager to read this as he’s my fave! I liked the start where he kinda recapped a bit on how he felt when they first met Misty & everything started. A lot of the story concentrates on the investigation into who is controlling Jake & the bent cops. It’s quite intriguing. There’s plenty of hot scenes with Casey & Misty on there own and with the other guys too. Ends in a sort of cliff hanger but not one that leaves you feeling frustrated.

Another exciting instalment

I received a free copy of this book however all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
Although this is the second book in the series, the history is explained briefly in the beginning but I personally think you have a much better grip on the story, as well as a greater understanding of the characters, if you have read 'Misty'. This is another brilliant instalment and I had my heart in my mouth at points. I'm absolutely loving this story, can't wait for the next one!

This book is getting better with every read. In the next installment we find out that Casey who is the cop in the group has some corrupt cops working on the force and he’s trying to figure out who is the ring leader. Not only is trying to protect everyone he cares about, he also has to work threw his jealousy of sharing Misty with his childhood friends. But along the way mistakes are made and now the hunter is being the hunted.

Interesting RH from the view of just one, her cop. The story is all about how he deals with the relationship and the investigation of the bad cops who were after her. Usually RH is in the MC point of view or everyone's point of view. Easy reading with some heated scenes with the characters.
