Federal Judge Patrick O’Shea is found swinging from his courtroom chandelier clad only in his robe. Everyone wanted him dead. FBI task force officer Katie O’Connor and her teamwork with the FBI and others to untangle the ever-growing lists of suspects including his estranged wife and judicial colleague. Small town attorney and former federal law clerk, Buck Davis, helps the court by identifying vengeful litigants and overseeing the law clerks during the turbulent time. Davis juggles his small town law practice with his budding romance with Katie, and rebuilding his relationship with his opioid addicted brother.
This was a new author to me and I quite enjoyed this book. Written by Katherine Burnette, who was a federal and state prosecutor, we get a new take on the term “a hanging judge”. I love a good legal mystery and beyond that I found that I loved the main characters Buck Davis and Katie O’Conner. Buck, a small town lawyer and Katie, an FBI agent are working to find out who killed Judge Patrick O’Shea. The FBI is involved because he is a federal judge and there is no shortage of suspects because he is not a nice guy at all! Worth the read for mystery fans!
Great read!!!! Federal Judge O'Shea is murdered and found hanging from the courtroom chandelier. There is certainly no shortage of suspects when his electronic devices are found to have child porn and there are others that have problems with him too. It's a collaboration of local, state, and federal agencies investigating the murder and they don't all play nicely with each other. Every bit of evidence is examined and reexamined from every angle. And it's very surprising what comes to light. I highly recommend this book to anyone that really enjoys a good whodunnit with a really surprising conclusion. I did win this copy from Booktrib.
