It was just SO MUCH FUN. I fucking love the main character, I was laughing so much.
"This isn't a fucking ensemble cast in a _story_" oh my god :sob:
The alien is so funny it's so unique to have an alien who's actually really hard to talk to but so blatantly human in psychology that they're not even remotely trying to hide that it's copy pasted human psychology it's just straight up a sarcastic human dude :sob:
I love all the alien hyjinks and I love getting to the prime minister and I love following him through the school and I ADORE getting to see it all from the other persepctives at the end. Especially the perspective of the bear. Even though her life looped over 800 times I'm at least glad that she just spent it all having sex and sleeping in a cave yk.
The whole alien lore is so good and I love how it was all tied together in a classic nuclear weapons fiasco it was such a satisfying build up to that point.
The only thing that feels really odd in retrospect is that massive part of the story spent building up his sister and her dog who completely vanish from the story up to that point. Also I agree with the other commenter that I could've totally done with more of the book after the end it wrapped up kinda quickly. But it's interesting in how it was a similar massive info dump to Cordyceps.
"I'm SCUM" learning that the title is a pun is so funny :sob:
Now all I have to read left of this author is their Steven Universe fanfiction but after that I might have to start reading their content from other fandoms because I just love their narrative voice and I want to read every single word they've ever put to paper.
I love this so much and I'm going to think about it so much.

A fun and refreshing iteration on time-loop fiction. A good mix of humor (watching a omnipotent dumbass try to communicate with an alien assassin through trial and error was hilarious), well-thought-out sci fi concepts and just a smattering of existential dread.
Seems to end quite suddenly, and I would have liked to read more, but having also read CORDYCEPS it looks like this is something of a penchant for BenedictSC, and in both cases he tells the story he wants to tell and finishes on a satisfying - if open-ended - note.
I look forward to reading whatever he writes next.
(Also sidenote, but I thought "who hasn't woken up in a hospital bed with no memory of how they got there? Like, that's a universal human experience, right?" was a nice little wink, and I hope there continues to be fun callbacks like that in future works.)
