Will a mix-up with a landscaping job put them on the path to romance?
Keeping up with her aunt’s vacation home is no easy task, but Alyssa finds the perfect contractor for a much-needed landscaping job. The man who appears on the MeetSpace screen is younger than she expects, but the more they work together, the more impressed Alyssa is by his knowledge of weird subjects.
When his dad refused to take on a new contract, Chip accepted to do the work instead. A PhD student who’s usually neck-deep in research, he is now learning more about landscaping than he ever anticipated. Spending time with Alyssa is an added bonus as Chip creates a walkway for her aunt’s vacation home.
No matter how much Alyssa enjoys spending time with Chip, she has seventy-two hours until a plane takes her home to Savannah. When the weatherman forecasts a hurricane, it seems Mother Nature has other plans for the couple. Can the newly built stone walkway lead Alyssa and Chip to the safety of a happily ever after?
The MeetSpace Meet Cute series are laugh-out-loud romantic comedies that are sure to give you warm fuzzies. Each book stands alone so you can jump anywhere into the series and read them in any order you like!
Maddie Evans is a runner and biker. She lives in New England with her family and tropical fish, and she’s always thought warm hearts are the perfect antidote to cold winters.
The banter is fun in this one. Chip McElroy is getting a PhD in archaeology; Alyssa is blisteringly competent as a virtual assistant but wants more.

“A job like this is pure labor,” MacElroy added. “Not a lot of skill, but a whole lot of time. Are you providing the new stone, or are we?”
I drummed my fingers on the desk. “Shouldn’t you know the answer to that?”
MacElroy laughed. “Most clients prefer to choose their own materials for visible design elements. I’m going to promise you that when MacElroy Builders frames up an addition, they don’t make the client buy the two-by-fours. You want a ceiling fan? You get to choose.”
I raised my eyebrows. “What if I’m not that picky?”
MacElroy pursed his lips. “Then you would be the first.”
I side-eyed him through the camera. “Am I truly the first person who didn’t want to fill her trunk with rocks? Exactly how long have you been doing this?”
MacElroy shot back, “What time is it?” He offered a nervous smile. “I’m actually not the eponymous A.J. MacElroy. A.J. is my father, and I had no idea this call was an estimate. I clicked the alert thinking it was a meeting with my PhD advisor at Brandeis.” His eyes shifted to the side as he checked another part of the screen. “I’m either in massive trouble for being late, or else everything’s fine because she forgot.”
I loved this story! Alyssa is working for her aunt as an assistant and needs to renovate some of her vacation house. She needs to find someone to fix the driveway but soon finds out that it's too "simple" of a job for a lot of people and they either want to try to sell her more services or they want to charge her too much. When she finally connects with someone on MeetSpace, he's young and not what she expected! Chip thought he was accepting a meeting for his PhD online but ended up talking to Alyssa instead! He accepts her driveway job for his dad's company since his dad won't do it! Their banter is so fun! They only have 72-hours together but they pack in a lot of fun! Chip hasn't done any hard work like that for a long time but he finds it invigorating! I loved the ending! Cute story!
This is another great addition to this series! A short but fun read about two people meeting and falling for each other. It’s a clean romance filled with great humour and banter and a few tense moments. Alyssa and Chip accidentally meet but the sparks start flying instantly and then there’s a hurricane!! It’s an entertaining and charming read that once I picked up I couldn’t put down!
I started this while making coffee and read all the way through. Maddie takes basic romance and makes it special with cool information about everything from building a walkway to ancient history. Well done.
Meet-cute with a side of cheese. However I am the queen of cheese and ate it right up. With that ending, I hope she stuck with the original. Means more
In this very modern meet cute, a young woman working as a digital assistant hires a landscaping contractor who's not really a contractor to fix the sidewalk and front stairs of her aunt's Cape Cod property - via a video call. While it looks like the whole approval process can be done by video, Alyssa flies to the Cape for 3 days in an attempt to make sure the job is done and she's on her way home before a hurricane hits. Readers will enjoy plenty of Maddie Evans' trademark clever banter between charming-because-they're-a-little-quirky characters. Such a fun story! I have only one complaint - it's a fast read!
Light And Fun Will They/ Won't They. This is a novella length (just 72 pages) light and fun end of summer read where a couple meets up accidentally via a video chat service (the basic premise of this multi-author series) and falls in love over the span of just a few days. The only real tension here is both of the people involved knowing all along that they only have these three days together before they go back to their "real" worlds, and since this is a romance book... well, you already know (roughly) how it ends. :D Great for the "clean" crowd, and a great introduction to this author's general style. For those looking for spicier romance tales... this author, and this series apparently, isn't that. But for those looking for a short book you can read while the kids are in the pool or at some sports practice or whatever... again, 72 pages. If you have an hour, maybe two, you can easily finish this book. :D Very much recommended.
Carved a walkway straight to her heart Maddie needed to find a contractor to repave her aunt’s walkway. The big contractors wanted to add more work besides the walkway to make it worth their while but Maddie wasn’t having it. Chip just happened to answer the video chat call for his dad’s contracting business when Maddie called him. The sparks started flying between them and never let up. I enjoyed reading this short but sweet novella. Loved the way they clicked almost instantly. There was a tense moment when the hurricane almost did Maddie in but Chip talked her through it. Loved the sweet ending.
I thought that this book was a real winner. I loved Alyssa and Chip's story. It was the perfect blend of cuteness, fun and feels to brighten my mood and leave me smiling. Aside from the main characters, the big star of this book was the banter. Fueled by sparks from this couples chemistry, it is clever and funny. I felt the concept behind this meet cute worked well and was easy to believe. In all, I thought this was just a really great romance that was filled with sweetness and humor. This is my volitional, forthright review.
This is a cute story, though the mason really isn't a mason. He's an archaeology student who occasionally helps his landscaper father. When his father says this job is too small, the soon-to-be-archaeologist takes on the job himself as a mason to build a walkway. I enjoyed the story but wish it had been a little longer. It seemed more like a short story than a novel.
I appreciate that this is a clean wholesome story, and it's highly entertaining.
I received a free copy of the book from the publisher but that did not influence my review.
This has been a cute series revolving around a website, MeetSpace, which is actually not a site for meeting your happily ever after but to meet someone to perform a task or help with a need. Alyssa needs a landscaper but the job is too small for most landscape contractors. Chip accepts it even though he isn’t a landscaper he has just worked for his dad for several years while working on his advanced degree. Maddie Evans gives us a cute story with the added problem of a hurricane. So much for getting the landscaping completed.
This is a smart and very sweet story about two people who needed a reset for their futures. Alyssa works for her grandmother as an Assistant and Chip is working on his Doctorate degree while helping out at his dad’s landscaping business. Alyssa and Chip have three days to resolve the landscaping problems and to fall in love. It takes a hurricane to get them to change course and find a way forward together.
I received a free copy of this book for my honest review. The characters are funny and thoughtful and the climax of this story is worthy of tissues. This is a winning story!
I really enjoyed this fun romance that started off in an accidental meet up in the MeetSpace app. The book was very sweet and full of humor that kept me smiling while I was reading. It also kept me quickly turning the pages. I really liked the characters a lot. This is a new author and I have to see what else she has written! I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
What a fun story! This storyline is precious and the author included some cute puns, and just lighthearted silliness that keeps the reader engaged from the early pages and through to the delightful ending. Great characters that just worm their way into your psyche. A fun little novella that I would recommend.
I received an ARC copy of this book. This is my voluntary and honest review with my own personal opinions.
This was so adorable. And sweet. And funny – I spent almost the whole book laughing. It may have been a very short read, but there’s a lot of emotion packed between those covers. Chip and Alyssa have everything working against them, but they’re just so stinking cute together I was ready to beg the universe to give them their happy ever after. No begging needed. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher.
Alyssa and Chip met by mistake. This sweet romance has wonderful characters and the storyline had me laughing out loud at their banter. Well written, kept my attention throughout the entire book and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was the first book I've read by this author but will definitely not be the last.
Sweet insta-love story. I enjoyed reading this, it kept me engaged and was entertaining. I don't think I've ever read anything by the author before but she did a good job with this meet up romance. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to read and leave a review.
Another perfect lunch hour read from this series and I love the quirkiness of the characters. Time is limited, but feelings fall fast in this read for Maddie and Chip. It's a sweet story that gave me the happy sighs. Will read more from Maddie Evans.
Sweet and Fun. It is a short read of about an hour or less. Alyssa, who is a virtual assistant to her aunt, She needs to find a landscaper/mason to redo the walkway and steps of her aunt's vacation home. Alyssa does not like her job but would love to do something else. she calls Chip's father on meetspace but gets Chip by accident. Chip is an archaeology student but convinces his father to let him take this job. The banter between Chip and Alyssa is funny, clever and true to nature.
