Crawlerz #6

Carry a Big Stick

Rate this book
The country is in its death throes.

The infected are getting stronger. Warlords are rising up to carve off sections of the country for themselves. Amidst all of this chaos a trio of siblings stand tall. Aligned with a key group of power players in this apocalyptic setting they work to weave back together the tapestry of a fragile nation. At the end of the day they just want to be able to go to bed at night without worrying if they're going to still be alive by morning. The things that would've worn down most people only serve to sharpen their edge.

A new threat emerges from the hordes of the infected. Monsters who can manipulate the other crawlerz. Monsters who can break the minds of the people trying to survive behind closed doors. This new threat may well signal the beginning of the end for the human race.

This is book 6 of the Crawlerz series.

Living in a lighthouse as a child led me early to a love of reading. Despite what you may have been told the life of a lighthouse keeper's son is not all Glamour and Parties. There's a lot of time when there really isn't much to do besides wonder if the fog horn has finally made you deaf or watch your dad pull fishing lures out of different parts of people's bodies. (You'd be amazed!)

Two of my favorite houses growing up!

description

I read. I read a lot. We had a 'reading caterpillar' around the room at my school where every time you read a book you put your name on your color paper and hung it up. The teacher had to give me two colors because it was looking more like a worm than a caterpillar. I devoured CS Lewis before moving on to Tolkien. Reading has continued to be a big part of my life. I've moved into Alternative Realities by guys like Stirling and my guilty pleasure is Zombie novels. I can't seem to get enough of them!

I like reading about the extremes people will go to to survive. The ones who can rise above the rest and keep their sense of right and wrong. When humanity crumbles around them these flawed heroes stand tall and try to make their way. They go from struggling to pay the phone bill to struggling to keep themselves and others alive. I like to see how this either hardens or breaks them. I think these stories speak at a very primal level. I enjoy the journey greatly as I get to tag along seeing how the survivors manage and how the experience forges them into something more than they were.

I look forward to sharing the journey with you all!

Sincerely,

R S Merritt

Very entertaining

Nonstop action cover to cover. No peaceful breaks for the “suicide squad” as the team realizes the some of the crawlerz have developed new psychic skills to reach into the uninfected minds and deliver horrendous nightmares causing to open them to open the doors so the infected can get in. How can this be stopped, can it be stopped?

I do love a good zombie apocalypse series. In this series the books are a bit too repetitive - like the story is just being drawn out without adding any depth to the story.
Finally - GET AN EDITOR! It's annoying to read with misplaced or missing commas, the word "to" when "too" is actually correct. And just absolutely misspelled or nonsensical words.

Seriously?

Seriously I have to wait for March 2022 for the next book in this riveting series? Aaaaarghhhhh!!! I love the series, and I can't wait for the final installment. Although sometimes the main characters do way too stupid things.

Heroes or self destructive?

Love the plot. The characters are full of surprises and power. They are play their parts good. That probably makes some of the people a bit jealous. But, these same people never give up and fight to the end.

Brilliant !!

Brilliant book. Some of the crawlerz are evolving . They are able to control large groups . Yue has to get in to the mind of the breakers . It's a dark and savage place to be ,bit by bit she is losing parts of her soul and maybe her humanity. I would definitely recommend this series.

A riveting storyline

The author takes us on another action packed adventure across dangerous territory. Most of the main characters are likeable and easy to identify with. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat as we wonder who will still be alive when you turn the page. The monsters keep coming, snapping their teeth and visiting your dreams as they continue to haunt you long after you put the book down.

No Time For Sleeping

Rest is luxury for the crew and never a moment to close their eyes. Action after action and the crew is always in the thick of it and the relentless crawlers are more deadlier. Not sure how Yue will come out on the other side, she's awesome!
It's time to defeat these zombies and live a normal post war environment where it's the day-to-day living in America, and that's scary enough.

more excitement and fun

I’m thoroughly enjoying this series. Merritt gets better with each book except with the editing. Dude, get an editor. You have some glaring mistakes throughout this entire book. Easy ones. Keep writing. The plot continues to thicken. Just when I think it’s slowing, you throw me a monkey wrench!

Wow

Wow this series just gets better and with every book. The author did make a mistake in chapter six although you don't know for sure until chapter seven. A character is named as another character, just for a few sentences though. I can easily get past things like that when the story is as good as this one.

Needs an editor

The writing is getting sloppier as the books go on. Sentences are too wordy and, again, commas seem to be forbidden.
Otherwise it's a great story. It must be - I'm still reading!

Book 6

I decided on a 5 due to the fast pace of the storyline and the consistency throughout the series. The tension is building in the story, will humanity survive? I hope so

This edition is poorly edited and poorly written.

This series has turned into quite the slog. It didn't help that the author got his characters mixed up, but there is also a chapter that appears to be out of order. Not sure I a going to bother with the final book as i just don't care what happens.

.

This one was hard to get through. Aside from the slurs in the one book, the first and second books were better. They've gotten different. The writing is slightly different, more mistakes and typos. Even mixing up where the characters are and who is speaking to who.
