I had the privilege to read this book in a period of time when I really needed to feel in connection with myself again. And this book was one of the main things that helped me.
Abbas has put his soul and existence between the lines of these poems. They are not about just feeling loved or being alone. They are about the devastating feelings, about the surrealistic feeling of falling for someone, about the thankfulness and about the dreams you can have only at certain times in your life.
As a lover of poetry-I am forever grateful for this book.

I have a mixed-feelings relationship with poetry. I’ve rarely intentionally searched for poems to read, but I’m often faced with them when friends share with me pieces or well… when someone sends me a poetry book to review.
Most poems I’ve read in life feel just like pretty words to me because I’m not able to understand their full hidden meaning. I wish all poems came with a little author’s explanation at the end because I don’t do well with abstract.
But what Abbas delivered us was poetry with beautiful words AND messages that reach your heart. And I’m certain the way they reach my heart will not be the same way they will reach yours - and I guess that’s the clichê of poetry but omfg I finally UNDERSTAND IT AND IT’s BEAUTIFUL.
Maybe I didn’t get to these poems’ full meaning, even after re-reading each one many times. But the messages I still got from them were messages I had never seen externalized by anyone.
They were messages I had only seen in my head, never coming from someone else. And while I read this beautiful collection of poems, I felt understood and reassured. My troubles went away.
It’s hard to put into words what Abbas’ poetry made me feel. But I hope this review has convinced you to grab this one. ❤️
P.S- gender neutral poetry. every poem can be your favorite poem. what else can you ask for? 🤧

I cannot put into words what this book made me feel, where it took me, what it showed me. It’s not just a few poems put together for the reader to enjoy every now and then. No. Once you start reading, you feel the need to continue, to finish that story. Feeling every single thing, going through it all, finding yourself in those lines. The experience, the emotions, the ability to relate and/or understand.
Truly amazing and indescribably beautiful.

As someone who doesn't read poetry at all, it was quite interesting and exciting for me to step out of my comfort zone and try something different. Ah where to start. This book, “Souls Write, Eyes Sing” is a collection of extremely beautifully written poems. The embedded emotions and author’s worldview gives a truly unique experience while reading even for a short time(yk cuz it’s book full of poems and you can read them in one sitting). This poetry is about looking for hope, looking for yourself and loving yourself. For me it was a warm wave, a cohesion between ourselves. The cover is white with black drawn elements , but I experienced much more colorful feelings than just pallor.

this lil collection of poems is absolutely exquisite; they gave me chills, they made me cry, they filled my heart with warmth. i don't think i have ever related to any poems this much ever before in my life. pieces like midheaven, blue eyes, 02/02/19, silent breaking or healing the inner child hit me really hard, they are stunningly good and (sometimes) painfully honest which i think makes them even better. this collection is definitely worth reading ♡

July 27, 2021“Everything I could try to find in others, I could actually find deep buried in myself.”
This poetry collection stood out to me in the best way possible because it feels like it is telling a story. It is separated into three parts, each portraying a part of love. This makes all the poems cohesive and while they are written in 1st person, it is easy to imagine the narrator going through all the emotions and situations being portrayed.
The fact that the poems use personal pronouns make them easier to relate to and I found myself constantly applying them to real life situations, which made the reading experience more fun.
However, I wish I had read each part at a time when I was feeling that emotion so I could really understand the poems and further empathise, but seeing how that would mean that I would want my heart to be broken I have re thought that wish. :)
Some of these poems (like Reincarnating Love!!!) I will come back and read over and over, and every time still being able to be amazed.
My personal favourites were Seasons of Our Love and Detached. So so good and I feel like that’s exactly what I have been trying to explain to myself but put into words.
Overall, very good collection and definitely keeping an eye put for new work.

This collection is truly beautiful. The analogies were gorgeous and fit exceptionally well together. I loved that the image of the moon in the collection was only full when the poems pertained to self love, not in trying to find love in another. My favorites were I you, stars me and talking thorns. I sincerely loved reading this collection. The titles for the poems were perfect and one of my favorite parts. Amazing work!

souls write eyes sing: the shortened collection is a stunning collection of poetry on love, loss, and self-discovery. abbas and i have corresponded for quite a while, even before this book came out and he has gone through quite the struggle to send me this beautiful book and i’m so glad to finally be able to indulge in his stunning writing and it was an absolute pleasure reading every single poems.
i simply love the way i find myself inside some of the poems like red velvet, time’s fastest pace and most of the poems in the self part. abbas’s writing are sharp in a way you could immediately understand and find yourself within his words yet it still captured the beauty of emotions in each individual poems. if you’re in need of something quick yet hits you deep in the heart, this collection is it. i would definitely recommend this collection to you poetry lovers out there seeking for a fresh escape.
i’m so excited for your next collection, abbas. this truly was a joy and comfort to have been read and i can definitely see myself re-reading this collection in times where i just need something to feel of in life 🤍 thank you so much again for sending this debut beauty to me. so so happy to have finally read your work 💌

Talented, brilliant, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, sh*t on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.

I’m so happy to review Abbas’ first book of poems “Souls Write, Eyes Sing” for you. Abbas’ poems are gender neutral. There is emphasis on relationships and that is what makes this work so unique.
The style reminds me of Lang Leav’s works, with a mix of prose and poetry depicting feelings of love, loss, hardship, healing, and friendship. It is in a format that reminds me so much of storytelling. My personal favorites were on pages 37, 38. and 40. The poem on page 40 I specifically made a comment that it was written for introverts like me. Abbas writes in first person narrative so it’s like stepping into the writer’s shoes to feel what he has experienced through connecting with others and sometimes, feeling disconnected from them.
I am so thankful for this book because I started reading it when I was experiencing fatigue from work and burnout. The constant work was making me feel too tired and I wasn’t feeling myself. As I kept reading, the feelings in the words resonated with how I felt in my 20s growing up, and sometimes even to this day. Abbas’s book reminds me of why I enjoy reading poetry; so much can be described in so few words that are impactful.
With each section of the book, I felt the pain of devastating losses in life, but also hopeful and warmth in Abbas’ works. His words are simple and easy to understand, which I appreciate because it speaks to me without any embellishments.

This poetry book is a gender neutral collection. From the very first page, you can feel yourself included in every poems. The self inclusions in this book is its specialty as it knows no boundaries in self pronouns. Although the book is indeed a short collection, the story it tells is at full emotions. It feels like Abbas is looking at your eyes, saying these words with all heart. It feels surreal reading every poems in this book mainly because it is written in no heavy metaphors and just a natural feelings. Every short poems in this book feels like a long one because Abbas wrote it with pure heart and soul. ⠀

As a lover of poetry, this book on paper should be something I’d enjoy (filled with themes of love in every form and shape beyond one’s existence), but the execution doesn’t really do it for me, as most of them feel like rewritten over-extended quotes of what you would in Rupi Kaur’s book “Milk and Honey”. Although I loved some of them, others felt too on-the-nose for me. I do like the fact, that it’s gender-neutral.
Now, I do hope, that you don’t take my criticism as something bad. It’s my personal opinion on the book and I do believe, that you’ll get better and better with each and every poem you write!
