The Neverglades: Volume Two
The Neverglades have seen their fair share of supernatural phenomena over the years, but a new threat has arisen in the Semblance, a shapeshifting entity with a centuries-old grudge against the Inspector. Plagued by walking nightmares and unable to trust even their own neighbors, the people of Pacific Glade have never faced a more insidious foe.
Thankfully the Inspector and Sheriff Olivia Marconi are on the case. But the Semblance knows how to hit the Inspector where it hurts, and their battle puts more than their own lives in jeopardy. Specters of the dead, prehistoric time travel, haunted hotels, mysterious otherworldly dimensions - this could be the duo's deadliest adventure yet.
It's going to take everything in Marconi's power to protect the people she loves. But it's a dangerous multiverse out there, and the Inspector may not always be there to bail her out...

Couldńt finish it, mainly because this is turning into a „Mark hannigan love-fest“ and I dońt like him.
Pros;
-a new interesting villain which is sadly dispatched too quickly for my taste
-i liked the new main character because she (unlike Mark) trusted the inspector after Findling out about his past (being responsible for the extinction of an indigenous people in prehistoric times (judging from Mark´s reaction on his size alone he would never have spokenj to him again)
-the (at least to me) interesting philosophical question of how to deal with the kind of power the inspector wields in „The Temple of the purple Moon°
-Cons:
-still flat characters
-the introduction of an afterlife in another Dimension feels cheap and like a deus ex machina to bring Saint Mark back instead of organic
-no answer to the question why the inspector needs a human partner when he usually has to Save his/her Ass and why he is (other than his understandable guilt for basically a mass killing, Even if unintentional) so enamored with humanity.

So Volume 2 was pretty good! It was just as action packed as Volume 1 and I loved the build up to the climax. It still pulls at your heart strings one minutes and gets your adrenaline running the next. I really thing David Farrow has a bright future as an author. His books are fun, suspenseful, mysterious, and seriously full of some bamf action. The characters are easy to relate to and you find yourself becoming part of the team on their adventures. I want to thank the Phoenix Public Library system for getting this trilogy on Libby after I requested it in literally 5 days. I am absolutely blown away. They actually responded to my book requests and emailed me and that really shocked me. Thank you so so much! I waited for 2 years to read this series and Agave Library was the first Library to ever respond to my request.

Another good book in the Neverglades series. I was a bit worried that all the stories were going to be about the Semblance, but it moved on to other villains. It also branches out to other locations. Worth reading.
