Could all these bits of trouble add up to something more?
When Phil Wood stumbles across a set of bloody footprints in the pasture, the solution seems simple at first. But nagging questions lurk in the shadows, and now mysterious tracks, flickering lights, and unexplained thefts are cropping up everywhere he looks. Is this rash of strange happenings a bizarre coincidence? Or could it all be connected? And if so, how?
As Phil searches for answers, it becomes clear that something more sinister than a petty thief lurks in the hills around Woodbreak. Can Phil find a way to bring the criminals to justice? And might God have plans for him beyond what he can see?
Rebekah A. Morris has lived her entire life (as of now) in Missouri. Being home educated during her school years was great, except for writing. That was the worst subject (along with math) that she had to do. It wasn't until after she graduated that she discovered the joys and wonder of writing. Now she can't write enough. After spending six years in research and writing, she completed her first book, "Home Fires of the Great War," a 500+ page, historical fiction about home life in the United States and Canada during the First World War. Since then, she has been an avid writer and always has more than one story going on at once because only one story at a time got tiring and dull.
This might be my new favorite book in the series! It's as full of action as the previous books and the plot is great! I love a good Rebekah Morris mystery, and this one did not disappoint. Now I'm ready for book 5!!
Since I enjoyed the rest of the series, I got my hands on a copy of “Phil Wood” as soon as I could. For some reason, I didn’t love the story quite as much as the others at first, but as it continued, I grew to like it. The characters, however, I loved from the beginning! I especially liked Don, Phil’s younger brother, even though he was a side character, and reading about the brothers’ relationship with each other was sweet.
One thing I didn’t like (and I thought was quite unnecessary) was . There is also some of mention of blood and shooting. Since it was not in detail, though, it didn’t bother me personally.
Some things were confusing, but I really enjoyed seeing how most of it made sense in the end. In total, it was an entertaining read, and I look forward to seeing how the story goes on.
I loved Phil Wood so much. This is a book I've been looking forward to for a long time, and it certainly did not disappoint. Phil was an amazing character, as were all the others, and I loved his story. I was so glad to see many of the characters from the first three books still around, and it was really nice to see what had happened to them all. As for the mystery, it was perfect, filled with suspense and surprises. This one was slightly different to the others, where the main character is concerned, and I appreciated that, as obviously not everyone is going to be the same or want the same things. But what I really liked is that even though this is so, he is not discontent or unhappy in any way, but willing to wait and see what happens. That made me like him even more, and I will say that how that part of the story ended was... perfect. Bringing H in was a stroke of genius, and the tie-ins and similarities with Jim Wood was possibly my favourite thing in the whole book. It was just so clever! Although we didn't see very much of him, I really, really loved Don. Can't wait for his book! So glad to have read this at last, and I really hope to have the paperback soon!
This wasn't my favorite book in the series, but I still did really enjoy it. It was definitely more intense (not overly though) than most of the other books, which I loved. The aspect of Phil trying to decide what to do with his life and praying and seeing God work that out was something else that definitely made me enjoy this book! Towards the end it could get a bit confusing (maybe just because three or four of the names started with the same letter), but I still could follow along and enjoy the story. I can now maybe consider taking back all the times I've wished the author was working on other of her stories I enjoy instead of the next book in this series. ;P I'm now eagerly awaiting the next book to published too!
