Set at the time of the Crimean War 1854-56. The heroine is part of the team of nurses trained by Florence Nightingale who travel to the Crimea to nurse in military hospitals.

Belinda Grey was a pseudonym for the author Maureen Peters who was more famously known for her Historical Fiction novels such as Henry VIII and His Six Wives, Elizabeth the Beloved, Kathryn, the Wanton Queen and many more.

She also wrote under the names Veronica Black, Catherine Darby, Elizabeth Law, Levanah Lloyd, Judith Rothman, and Sharon Whitby. Her novels, which easily number over one hundred, fall into many categories: biographical fiction on royalty (written under her own name), Gothic romances, family sagas, Mills & Boon series titles, contemporary mysteries.
