I still clearly remember the day I stood at the traffic lights in downtown Melbourne. There she was, sitting in her car, waiting for the lights to change green. Tapping her fingers impatiently.

Something inside my head went off. Kaboom! An idea formed, and became the beginning of a novel.

Instead of sitting patiently at the lights, she was nervous, extremely anxious as she was being pursued by killers. The next thing she knew, an angry, crazy man was slamming her windscreen with a sledgehammer and she was running for her life.

Yes, the life of a writer is quite unique.

This was a short sweet read and I really enjoyed it..

This story was delightful. The ending was good. However, once the climax happened, the story seemed rushed.

I didn't like this book. It was supposed to be in an old-fashioned setting yet the main characters were kissing in the middle of the cafe all the time, without any repercussions. Back then, everyone would have been scandalized and their reputations in shreds.
Also, Luke inherited his parents' saloon/brothel when they died. Marigold is deeply troubled by this, when she finally finds out. What a hypocrite going to church and then claiming he's ok because he just rents the rooms to the soiled doves. Maybe he's too busy thinking of Marigold instead of listening to the Bible. Also,even though Marigold is upset about Luke's career, she just seems to get over it and continue kissing him and going on a picnic, unchaperoned.
I can't recommend this book at all.

Miserable in Montana, part of the Yours Truly: The Lovelorn series, was a fun and entertaining read. I loved Marigold from the start. I thought it was a delight when she interacted with Luke. I found myself giggling at times throughout this tale. It is slightly predictable, but oh so good to read and I am so glad I did not miss it.
I am giving Miserable in Montana five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy quick and clean historical romance.

Their jobs barely afford them a good supper each night. That doesn't stop Luke from pursuing Marigold. He even gets her a new job. Marigold is falling fast, until her Mother explains why she doesn't like Luke and she feels betrayed. This is when she writes to The Lovelorn for help. Will they be able to get over the past and build a life together. You will have to read all about it. Sweet story.

Luke has loved Marigold for 10 years, since they were teenagers, however, life’s circumstances didn’t allow them to be together. Plus, Marigold’s mother despised Luke and his family and consistently tried turning her away from Luke. Marigold was almost 26 years old, so she had a right to see who she wanted, but felt honor bound to her mother.

Marigold doesn’t understand but is torn between her love for both. Can a lovelorn column give her clarity? Cheryl Wright has given us a story with love, mystery, humor and conflict. I enjoyed this story.

Aww such a sweet and loving story. I loved it! Great job Cheryl Wright! Like and Marigold was in love from when they were teenagers, but her mother would not let her be around Luke so he waited a few years until they were adults to come back around her... I recommend reading this book, you will enjoy it very much.

A quick read with heartwarming characters and a storyline about a young couple, Luke and Marigold. Marigold and her mother don’t have an easy life, there’s never enough food or money. Luke has been labeled as a bad boy in town, at least by Marigold’s mother. Marigold is intrigued and attracted to Luke but doesn’t understand why her mother feels so strongly about him.

This was not one of my favorite books from this author, as the storyline is not something I typically enjoy. I gave the book 5 stars as it was an easy read and I was able to follow along with what was going on. I did enjoy watching the change in several of the characters in the book.

The story seems to be a twist on "opposites attract". Funny how the mother accuses him of being what they are (in a sense). He is ever patient and persistent. So glad that the truth is finally brought to light. A really nice story of love overcoming seemingly impossible opposition.
