Jenna and the Legend of the White Wolf

Rate this book
Dive into a world filled with nature and self-discovery as Jenna finds herself part of the Legend of the White Wolf…

A desperate call for help starts Jenna on a fast-paced journey to try and save Ituria, a unicorn trapped by hunters. After freeing him from the hunter’s cave, she must also protect him from a renegade wolf intent on taking over Ituria’s forest home.

Jenna may be human in East Forest, but when she travels into the Middle Forest she takes on another form: a large white wolf. Though she may look like a wolf, she doesn't fool all of the animals she encounters. Animals have many ways to identify and assess their environments and every animal’s survival is dependent on their many senses. She will have to learn how animals think in order to earn the trust of the creature who lives in the cave.

Join Jenna on her adventures in Middle Forest to rescue a unicorn, with the help of the forest animals and a very large dragon. During her quest, Jenna learns how she fits into the Legend of the White Wolf and must decide if she is brave enough to see it through!

Jenna lives in a house on the edge of a forest. Her family is new in town, and she often feels bossed around by her sister when her dad is away on a military assignment. She Loves watching the animals in the woods behind her house, but on this day they are all acting strangely. When a fox comes up near her and seems to be asking her to touch its paw, she is transformed into a white wolf once she does. Now, she can understand everything they are saying, and it seems they need her help to rescue Ituria.

This was the fourth book in the Chronicles of Ituria series, and it was every bit as much fun as the previous ones. I received a review copy of this book and I very much enjoyed reading it. Watching Jenna build up her self-confidence as she comes up with creative ways to help the forest animals to rescue an injured unicorn, was a very fun story to read.

And while this series is meant for middle-grade readers, the story is entertaining enough for an adult looking for quick, fun something to entertain themselves with for a few hours.

For those with middle-grade children who enjoy early chapter books with a fantastical element to them (unicorns, dragons, as well as a variety of forest animals), I believe they will have a great time reading this series. It is easy enough for young readers, but entertaining enough for adults to enjoy as well.

It's annoying when an author claims that a book set within their book series works as a standalone story. In my experience, that's never been true.

The plot of this one followed a magical squirrel that turned a girl into a wolf to help save a unicorn. How was the squirrel magical? Why that girl? Unicorn??? I'm sure all of those questions would be answered by the other books in the series...

Lovely and imaginative, beautiful imagery. An amazing message and of course JB's fluid of writing. This is a middle grade book which counts on the reader's own mind to have imagination, suspend the outside world and enjoy this fantastic domain JB has created.
