English-Gaelic Glossary of Current Words and Expressions = Faclair Ion-Fheuma Beurla-Gàidhlig

Rate this book
One of the dictionary definitions of the word Glossary A partial dictionary for a special purpose. The purpose of this publication is to provide a Scottish Gaelic equivalent for the kind of vocabulary used in news broadcasts, discussion of current affairs, writings on popular science, fiction and non-fiction, reports, magazines, business, and in conversation on subjects of general interest. All too often one's Gaelic language is sprinkled with unnecessary intrusions in English. It is the conviction of the compiler that anything that can be said or written in English - or virtually in any other language - can be expressed in Gaelic. To borrow a phrase from elsewhere, “The Gaels have a word for it”.

The new vocab was useful, was very excited to learn the Gàidhlig word for squid (Gibearnach), but I'm not sure how accurate the phrases are. My gàidhlig speaking friend said several are incorrect :/
