100 or Nothing is a compelling read because of Glen's willingness situate himself as a learner, not the all-knowing expert. This book outlines his attempts to constantly refine his practice, and it does not shy away from those attempts that were, at first, unsuccessful. This book isn't the solution to all of your edu problems (no book is): instead, it is the story of how one teacher continues to grow through meaningful collaboration with colleagues and a sincere desire to help his students learn.

What a simple, yet complex reminder on how we can empower our kids (and ourselves). 100 or Nothing: Reimagining Success in the Classroom, embodies the notion that failure is magnificent in all its glory and all that it can bring. Glen invites us to remember. Glen invites us as teachers/adults to say to kids, “I don’t know”, while simultaneously encouraging us to say, “Let’s find out and make it our business to know.” Glen sees his classroom as a room full of scholars. Hence, Glen asks himself and his students to dig deeper, to ask, to research, to ask again, to dig even deeper and repeat the process in a continuum. The goal is to reflect, to make connections, to unearth information & knowledge, especially if it makes you uncomfortable. Talk about growth, talk about expanding your mind! We want to teach our kids to think, we want our kids to be curious, we want our kids to explore, we want our kids to be tenacious. This book is a remarkably powerful tool that can help us achieve that success (and failure) in any realm. This book inspires us to open doors for our kids and for ourselves, and to do so with courage and wonder. It is SO worth the read.

It is evident this book was written by a man who has no children, no responsibilities outside his job. Every teacher I know is burning out. They are paid part time wages and expected to work overtime — every day plus on weekends. Women with children and responsibilities at home don't have the time to cater to other people's children after work. Until teachers are paid much better no one should be encouraging them to spend every moment of their lives working on lessons plans, videos, contacting parents, and grading. Also, it is apparent that Colemen does not work in lower income district or with students who would be struggling with English. I doubt his idealistic views and teaching methods would work with kids who aren't privileged.
