As a young teen, Amber D. Browne discovered her passion for the written word and for sharing information. After acquiring a BA in mass communication with a minor in history from Texas State University, Amber spent much of her career researching and reporting Texas news for radio. She later branched out as a freelance writer and editor for local magazines, and her desire to share her journalism experience led to a seven-year stint in junior high education as an English language arts/reading and media teacher. Amber resides in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with her husband and their two children. Find more of Amber’s written work at www.amberdbrowne.com.
The first part of this book, which is divided into three sections, shouts out to Hermetic author Hermes Trismegistus, Egyptian God Thoth, and Freemason author Manly P. Hall, who was inspired by Hermeticism.
Trismegistus's Hermeticism, from around 100 C.E., is monotheistic and denounces godlessness while agreeing that bad karma should injure one's fate. Some concepts introduced include: Logos or reason, mentalism, and manifesting the mental into the material world.
The second part of the book is devoted to explaining The Seven Hermetic Principles. The last of these is the Principle of Gender, and this chapter has an interesting analogy about atoms. An atom is created when electrons (negative) are drawn to a nucleus, which is created from protons (positive) and neutrons (neutral). I found this metaphor interesting since I often tell other people that I am "neutral at worst," and overall a positive person who "likes to keep things light." As it turns out, these are a masculine qualities.
The third and final part of the book has short chapters on astrology, alchemy, and magic.
Overall, this was an interesting find. I think I may have gotten some new insights into my research.
