At last, a guidebook that will impress both visitors and long-time residents of Los Angeles! Having lived in LA for nearly two decades by now and certain I must have visited every site of interest or sampled every cuisine of note, I was delighted to discover so many old and new local gems to seek out so close to home. Everything from the glitzy Hollywood bars to taco trucks parked at gas stations, from Korean family spas to intimate Leimert Park community jam sessions can be found here. It's perfect to have on hand for when I have visitors (and suddenly blank on what to do or where to take them) or when I have a weekend alone with my kids and need ideas on how to meaningfully fill our time. One of the most notable aspects of this guidebook is its thoughtful inclusivity of all the different cultures and communities that make up this city. The author's appreciation and passion for the people who make up this city and the classes, parks, restaurants and traditions they offer leaps off every page. Whatever you identify as, whatever your comfort level or personal preferences are - you will find a beautiful safe space for YOU to visit and enjoy in this book.

Enjoyed this read, even without an upcoming trip to the area. Lots of 'not-the-usual-sights' to check out.
