Hand In The Dark: What happens when someone you know has cancer

Rate this book
Hand In The Dark is a self-help book with a demographic of those surrounding cancer (relatives, carers, close friends).

Today I publish HITD with the peace in mind that I did my best to uphold a personal promise in choosing to apply the situation, the first-hand knowledge, and the experiences for good.

The beauty of this book begins with the honest, gritty, yet emotional truth in each page, and I have two aims. Firstly, to display the story of cancer. How it affects everyone, what happens, and how your life changes. Second: If I can help anyone who feels as alone as I did when all odds were against us, then it was worth it.

“I don’t claim to be special, or unique. I do claim to be observant, descriptive, and open as a person. It is the normality that will make this story approachable; the similarities of being a member of society that creates the feeling of a connection. This could happen to anyone.”

About the author

Born in ’93, Owen grew up in Chelmsford, England. The notable creative intuition stemmed from his parents introducing the world of music at age 10, with his first electric guitar. An endless level of curiosity into the arts evolved over the next 18 years, culminating into the projects seen today.

Alongside a decade of touring and working in bands, recording albums in studios, and selling music online through Spotify and iTunes, Owen also holds experience within the UK Army (CAMUS) and Royal Military Music School as a guitarist.

Whilst presently working at a media company in Germany, Owen also holds several degrees in the arts:

- BA Hons in Music Education

- University of Edinburgh: Fundamentals in Music Theory

- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Technology

So many thoughts when I read this book. My family has 3 generations of cancer history, myself included.

Like many, I have several friends and colleagues who have experienced the upheaval to life that cancer brings; it's impact different every time.

Owen honestly, openly and humbly shares his story, whilst offering the hand of support and friendship for any need it.

Read this book. Owen, thank you x
