I do not usually write out thoughts about a book I haven’t even cracked open. But I feel it’s necessary to make other readers aware before they add this book to their shelves.

I am all for supporting authors and helping increase visibility for their books, especially self-published and underrated books. I understand, especially in self-publishing, how difficult it can be to get your book properly promoted. I do have a heart for seeing authors succeed. But there are certain things authors really should not do.

About a month ago, I was contacted by this author through Instagram. He asked if I’d be willing to read and review his book, which was coming out in June. I declined. I explained that I had several books to read already, including a number of obligatory reads (ARCs) and could not commit to reading and reviewing something that was coming out in a month. I said I’d be happy to help promote his book by sharing about it in my stories. I was true to my word. I shared.

Yesterday he contacted me again to say his book was now out and available for a limited time for a certain price on Amazon. I looked at it on Amazon and while I generally avoid buying books through Amazon, I saw it was only available digitally and only through that platform. I made the exception in an effort to help support the author. I then added it to my Goodreads shelf and again shared in my stories about the book now being available. I noted the current price in my story.

First, the author messaged me to argue with me about the price. Even after I sent a screenshot of my invoice, which clearly indicated the price I had paid, he argued that I was wrong. He then told me to review his book as soon as possible.

That was not okay.

I was direct, restating that I had many other books to read, including ARCs, and that I would not likely be getting to this one soon. I might find a message like this off putting if I had been given a free copy, but it might be a little easier to understand the request. Still, even with ARCs, I’ve never received this kind of pressure to read and review. But this was not a free copy. I paid for it. To tell me to review as soon as possible is pushy and unbecoming. However, the author was accepting of my response, so I was going to let my own frustration go.

Then I woke up to a message this morning on Goodreads from the author telling me to let him know my feedback when I read the book. I doubt he realized that I’m the same person he was contacting through Instagram and he must be looking at who has shelved his book and then contacting them. That is very, very inappropriate. It really crosses a line and comes across as creepy. All that’s been accomplished through all of this is that I no longer want to read a book. We should all be able to purchase a book and/or add it to our shelves without pressure from the author.

I did not gain anything by helping promote the book or by purchasing a copy. I did it to support the author and now I’ve lost all desire to do so. I think other readers should be aware that if they add this book to their shelf, they might receive similar pressure from the author. There are appropriate ways to seek help from reviewers and influencers, but applying pressure and harassing them are not appropriate at all.

❤️BOOK REVIEW 📚❤️

TITLE : WRATH OF KAAL
AUTHOR : MOHIT CHAWLA
Publication : Self-Published
Genre : Crime Thriller
Format : Kindle
Pages : 188

✴️ The story of the book begins with a man named Kabir Bhardwaj, who is a professor of Mathematics at the National College, Mumbai.
✴️ He is handsome young man with dark brown eyes and a perfect physique. He loves pets very much and his love for animals hooked him with PETA, an NGO working to safeguard the animals.
✴️ A girl named Tanya also works in Kabir's college who is a very good friend of Kabir and she is also a pet lover.
✴️ Tanya is so fond of animals that she takes care of 20 dogs in her house. The author has beautifully written the relationship between Tanya and Kabir.
✴️ In the book there is a character named Yash who is a friend of Kabir, he has a dog 'Rambo'.
✴️ When Yash goes out for a few days, he keeps his dog at an animal handling shop which is handled by a man named 'Shiva'.
✴️ But Shiva does not take care of Yash's dog at all and when Yash comes back, his dog dies.
✴️ Yash feels very sad about this and he also complains against Shiva but nothing happens to Shiva as there is no strong evidence. When Kabir comes to know about this, he is also very sad because he too lost his dog 'Tiger' a few years back.
✴️ A few days later, Shiva dies mysteriously and in the police investigation, it is found that Shiva used to smuggle animal parts.
✴️ The real story of the book begins here as a man is on a revenge against the injustice being done to the animals in the city who also killed Shiva and this character is named as 'Kaal' in the book which is also the title of the book.
✴️ If you want to know who is Kaal and why is he doing this? Why is he after people who hate animals or are persecuting them?. You will know the answer to this question after reading the book.
✴️ The author has written the entire book around people who love animals and the way the story has been crafted is commendable.
✴️ The author wants to give this message through his book that we should love animals and should also inspire people around us.
✴️ This book is very close to reality. If you also love animals then you must read this book.

Thanks for reading.😊

I would like to thank the author, Mohit Chawla, for reaching out to me to read and review his book.

Wrath of Kaal is a very interesting psychological thriller. From the first few pages this book had grasped my attention and I had completed it in two days (very rare for me, I'm a slow reader.)

I don't typically read this genre of book so I was very skeptical at first. However, Wrath of Kaal ended up being added to my list of "Top Reads of 2021".

The book has a strong message about how far people will go to protect the ones they love or even more, to protect the ones who really cannot protect themselves. It has a message about how humans can really be "inhumane" and how this can affect all forms of life. The strongest point I also go out of this is that no crime goes unpunished.

The story doesn't contain too many twists which in this case was perfectly fine as it all flowed very well. At times I felt as though I was listening to someone tell me a story as opposed to be an author just writing a book. I enjoyed this aspect and it made me want to keep reading more.

I am giving it 5 stars because I truly believe this story deserves it. The only thing I can pin point out is that the story does contain some grammatical errors and may have needed more editing prior to being published but this does not affect the actual story in anyway.

A nice captivating thriller!

Kabir Bhardwaj lives in Mumbai with his mother. A tragic incident in the past forced them to leave everything behind and relocate to a new city where Kabir now works as a lecturer and helps an NGO to safeguard animals from abuses or violence. Kabir has always been overly protective and caring towards dogs. He wants to keep them safe from the scary people in the world. He holds a grudge against those who abuse dogs for their selfish deeds. But somehow he is bound to go all out and do something for them.

After the death of his mother, Kabir decides to take things into his hands to punish those abusers for their heinous crimes against innocent creatures, while being anonymous or Kaal, as he says, for the world. But then again, you can't take law and order into your hands expect not to get noticed in this world, even if it is for a good cause; and so, inspector Vikram comes into the story to catch the culprit or Kaal as they say.

I liked the thought behind this story. It is very disheartening to see how people mistreat innocent animals but well, the whole world is full of shitheads. The least we can do is try to help those animals and give them the love and care they need. Talking about the overall story, I mean, it didn't really impress me. To me, the story felt like one of those thrilling crime patrol episodes. (If you're into those, I'd recommend you to read this book.) There were a lot of typos and grammatical errors which I guess is because of the self-publication. Though I feel, going for proofreading would have been better.

It's not that I didn't like the overall feel of the book. It was a nice suspense thriller, something different than my usual reads but just there wasn't anything special to intrigue me. It's mostly the writing that felt bland to me. Anyway, considering it's the debut novel of the author, I'd say they did a pretty good job. I feel one can always improve oneself over time by learning from the past.

Wrath of Kaal is an extraordinary thriller. This is such an awesome book which voice out for the innocent lives of dogs. This is totally unique because the Author has made it into a gripping thriller.

Kabir our protogonist is such a passionate animal lover. He is a professor but also works for the wellness of dogs. The story starts with strange and emotional circumstances happening around him. His friends and family has issues and one by one he ends up with mystery. He finds himself totally locked. This is where he tries to dot and plot. Will he be able to get to truth ? He had only one thing " How far would you go to protect the ones you love ". Meanwhile there were couple of murders. The police were left clueless until they get a letter from Kaal. Who is that? Why were they killed?
This book is definitely a great treat to all animal lovers. It is filled with emotions, relations, mystery, shocking reaveal and a precious message. There was that enlightening vision, that all animals are not just pets, they are one of the spices living with us. Thereby we got to respect them. They deserve all care and respect like our loved ones. It was a hearttouching read. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Wrath of Kaal by Mohit Chawla

What happens when crooked people are killing innocent stray dogs just for their profit? What the protagonist does when one complains about the pet's ailments caused by those shopkeepers who keep pets in the name of their upkeep in the absence of the owners.

Later they sell the organs of those pets and return the ailing pet to the owner when the owner returns to take the pet from the shop.

The cover and title of the book are enough to make an intriguing thriller read. Recommended to all.

Wrath of Kaal: A unique psychological action thriller inspired by true events
by Mohit Chawla

"Karl's Fury" tells the story of a man who decides to fight for these poor, defenseless animals, even at the expense of his own life. As for this book, if you can understand the self-evident emotions, this book is for you.
It has all these South Indian cinematic OMG moments, but if readers do not understand the underlying emotions, this book may not apply to them.
This book will definitely satisfy all animal lovers. He is full of emotions. , Relationship, mystery, shocking revelation and valuable information. I recommend this book to all animal lovers.
This is a very powerful debut for the author.
All life needs fuel to survive, and it must protect the lost.
This is a good attempt and will definitely appeal to animal lovers.
I like this book very much, the story is wonderful. The author made this book very interesting, so get ready to read this book.
Highly recommended 😌✌️
Happy reading😌✌️

With a tremendous increase in the atrocities against the animals, Mumbai city had to witness the emergence of Kaal, who mercilessly punishes the culprits.

First of all, let me appreciate the author for choosing such a powerful yet less explored topic. Many incidents in the story can touch your heart. At the same time, there are many brutal scenes too.

Unlike the usual thrillers, which are narrated from the perspective of the officer in charge, here it is narrated mostly from the killer’s point of view.

It is fast-paced and gripping, but the language could have been better. There are many errors that require proper editing. Also, the chapter names could have been more intriguing.

It is simply a treat to animal lovers and thriller readers can give it a try too. I can't assure you that the book would take you to the edge of your seats but I'm pretty sure that you won't be disappointed.

Great psychological thriller I read recently

Book - Wrath of Kaal
Author - Mohit Chawla
Genre - Psychological thriller

I always support the concept of treating the fellow humans equally. I love animals and they have a major contribution in human life. They should be treated with love and care.

There are people who love and take good care of animals. This book would definitely create storm in their minds.

This psychological thriller is about Kabir's efforts to save animals from abuse and killing. He is disturbed by the fact that he could not take any severe actions against the guilty because he had a promise done to his mother. This stops him from action.

There is a parallel story where the inspector, Vikram Singh is trying hard to find Kaal. Nobody knows who he is and what will be his next step. Vikram Singh was appointment to handle the case of Kaal.

The book is very interesting and a gripping one too. I was so curious to know about Kaal and his motives.

What's the promise Kabir made to his mother? Has he stopped animal abuse? Who is Kaal? Why is he doing all these? Will Vikram Singh solve this case?

The book has all the answers you would look for. The plot is complex. The language is not at all complex and could be easily understood. The narrative is simple. The author gives so much awareness about treating animals thorough out the book. I loved the honesty of Kabir and the curiosity of Vikram. The author has done a really good job in his debut. My heartfelt congratulations to the author.

Kaal or Yam is the one who punishes the bad ones. The story revolves around some similar ideology. Wrath of Kaal describes a dark thriller of Kaal who punishes the bad people in the society. Story involves around Kabir - ordinary Maths professor who loves animals and is associated with NGOs who help save animals and get them rehabilitated, Vikram singh a determined police officer and third is a mysterious serial killer Kaal who is killing the wrong doers mercilessly in the city. Vikram singh wants to catch the Kaal who seems to have a motive of killing these people. Kabir loves one of his colleague in college and she always helped him in trouble as well. The story is quite exciting and mysterious. So the question is who is Kaal? Why is he killing these people so mercilessly? Do he has some motive behind all this? Will Vikrqm be able to catch him and stop him from killing more people? Is Kaal a good guy or a bad one? All these answers are hidden in the dark story that shows multiple twists and turns and is quite action packed.
The cover of book is quite interesting and the title was more than enough for me to read the whole book. Language of the book is simple and easy to understand. The characters and scenes are portrayed perfectly and gives you sense of watching a movie. A must read for all even if this is your first crime thriller.

Cruelty against animals is something that is completely inhuman and truly devastating for animals as well as animal lovers.

Wrath of Kaal is the story of a person who decided to fight for these poor helpless animals, even at the cost of his own life.

Through this book, the author has spread awareness regarding the pressing issue of atrocities against animals.

The incidents shared in the book are very sad and can make any animal lover cry.

The author shares very strong ideas about loving and caring for animals. The protagonist presents a very positive and powerful role model.

There were a couple of errors throughout the book, some phrase seemed to be translated from Hindi. A few words didn't really fit in the context. These things were a little annoying.

But compared to the strong plot and the positive message conveyed by the author these errors can be condoned.

I really enjoyed reading this book and I completed it from start to finish in one go.

Wrath of Kaal is less than 200 pages long so you should definitely give it a shot.

The book presents an amazing plot that is not far from reality. This message definitely deserves to be heard.

Qotd: How crazy are you towards animals?

Are you an animal lover? Yes, then you might have a pet a home or just love the way animals are. No, then you are either scared of them or just don’t like them around. Well it’s a tricky human nature. Some people love animals, some don’t. Some try to run away from them, some try to pet them around. But there are different kind of people who hurt them too...

According to the report published by the Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations (FIAPO) and All Creatures Great and Small (ACGS), around 5 lakh animals got hurt between 2010 and 2020 in India. So as an animal lover what would you do?

This is the story of Kabir, an animal lover who decides to take action to stop the violence against animals. I like the idea of the plot honestly because we rarely come across books that features animal abuse and people taking steps to stop it. But this book went over my head because the measures taken were hardly measures and included more violence than done on animals. Also the book seriously require editing too.

I appreciate the work of the author for his debut novel. But still I wish that the book was edited properly before releasing.

"How far would you go to protect the ones you love...?"
✓Synopsis: Mumbai City is living in fear of the Kaal, who mercilessly punishes the culprits. The story revolves around Kabir Bhardwaj, a Mathematics professor, who also works to stop experiments on animals and animal exploitation. Inspector Vikram Singh, is the incharge of this case and he has to find who Kaal is and what is Kaal's motive behind the murders.
✓I would want to begin my review of this book by saying that I Loved It. The story revolves around a person who fights for the life of innocent animals. The book highlights the merciless demeanor of humans which these innocent animals have to go through. Being an animal lover, there were parts of the book which left me teary eyed. This was the first time I came across such a concept. I want this on screen! The language used is easy to grasp and storyline is not very complicated. It is a very heart-touching read. The book is less than 200 words, which makes it a quick read. There were a few errors with the vocabulary but the easy language, interesting concept and the thought-provoking message makes it an amazing read for everyone, specially for the beginners.

Anything that is about-and/or teaches animal cruelty is a five star rating for me. The author does a good job of presenting a fairly balanced description of what constitutes animal abuse , it brings the needed attention to animal cruelty and it’s basically a story of man who bravely fought giving his all for the said cause. The plot has a strong touch and will obviously keep you hooked throughout, defining in terms of genre it’s precisely a thriller and I must say duly lives up to it. It’s a short read of merely 188 pages but all the chapters are binding and written in a very comprehend-able manner. The author has done a commendable job of fighting for a very important cause alongside a hooking story filled with nail-biting moments. It’s definitely a very nice debut , being an animal lover myself I feel a lot connected with the author other and every other sympathiser out there. I am in loved with the main character that is Kabir and honestly who wouldn’t be , he’s a selfless man , saving innocent lives at the cost of his own. ‘Wrath of Kaal’ is beautiful and heartfelt as well as intriguing and engrossing.

Animal welfare is a pertinent issue because there are so many animals around the world suffering from being used for entertainment, food, medicine, fashion, scientific advancement, and as exotic pets. Every animal deserves to have a good life where they enjoy the benefits of living along with humans without torturing each other.
....
The word ‘Kaal’ is often used to depict a dark power having the power of annihilation. Yama is poised to show wraths. That is why Yama is also called Kaal.
....
Here in this beautiful thriller, the debutant author Mohit Chawla wonderfully captured the notion of the protagonist to save a pet or stray dogs. The corrupt people make money by selling dogs’ organs for profit instead of taking care of them in his pet shop. The real hero takes revenge accordingly. His love interest is Tanya, his colleague in the college where he teaches maths.
....
Police officer Vikram is assigned to unravel the mystery. The readers will surely get thrilled with every sign of uncertainty of the changing sequence of the well-written narrative.

Human beings have grown so self-centred that they would harm others, particularly animals, without hesitation. They exhibit neither pity nor remorse in any way. Such violence perpetrated against helpless creatures is heart-breaking. This is a narrative of an animal lover who wishes to defend abandoned animals who have been abused and would like assistance and refuge.
Kabir is a pet person who's also a member of PETA and does everything he can to rescue abandoned animals. However, due to a statement he made to his mother, he is helpless to prevent the nasty humans from harming the dogs.
That's a great storyline that you'll just notice if you read the narrative. The most intriguing aspect of the narrative is a mental disorder and a sequence of inexplicable killings. And it has a good narrative with a few unanswered questions, in my opinion. If you're an animal lover, you'll feel outlandish at moments and driven at others.
The author expresses deep feelings regarding animal love and care. The character serves as a forceful and good leadership role.

Animals are sweet, innocent, loving creatures on earth. they love you and always be by your side no matter what happened to you. If we have the worst day they will cheer us make us happy but instead of being grateful, we make them suffered in ways that no one can imagine.

Wrath of Kaal by Mohit Chawla is a story of Kabir, who has a special place for animals in his heart especially dogs but his life got really out of place. He lost some people who are closest to him. There also this figure named Kaal who started to murder people and after murder left letters to police and media. Who is kaal? Why he murder people? What was in those letters? You will get all this answer when you read this book?

Wrath of Kaal is an outstanding book with an amazing plot that has a strong message. I loved the book especially the plot it engaged me till the end I would recommend this book to everyone but if you are an animal lover then you should read this book.

Animals are such agreeable friends—they ask no questions; they pass no criticisms. I wonder why some people treat animals harshly. How can they do treat them like that even after looking into their innocent eyes?
"Wrath of Kaal" is a fictional story that spreads awareness of how some people are cruelly treating animals. Kabir is a person who loves animals. He is also a professor who runs NGO to protect animals. After seeing the way people handling the animals, he feels sorry for them.
How can that animals be going to be protected?
Mysterious murders are being happened in the city of Mumbai. Inspector Vikram was assigned to handle that case.
What might be the reason for that murders?
Will Inspector Vikram be able to find the culprit?
It is a story that is interesting, and also this gives the message. I can't believe that these types of incidents are going towards animals. Narration is simple that everyone will be able to read. I suggest that this book should read by everyone.

I must say this book, will be close to my heart for a long time.Since childhood i have been around dogs( stray as well as breed), so I can understand the feeling that the author wanted us to feel. The story is about how, where and why Kaal came to do the killings, will he get caught or be successful is the story.

I don't know what I have to say, I was crying till the very end of the book. If you had any animals as your pet, you would understand the pain, that the person goes through with their natural death and God forbid it's unnatural, it kills you. We have many such of animal abuse stories around us, the book is just a compilation of that.

Overall, touched and will hold it forever

After a long time I have read something and it was totally worth it.

The story revolves around innocent creatures. When we gonna understand that the animals are a part of our existence and we should treat them accordingly.

Romantic touch in the between thriller sequences was very well executed.

All of the characters were unique. I was hooked till the end.

The protagonist, Kabir Bhardwaj tries his best to do something for animals to make their lives better with the help of an ngo.

Inspector Vikram Singh just wants to solve his careers most challenging case.

Who is KAAL? What does he wants?

The debutant author really done a good job. I got emotional so many times.

I am expecting more thrillers from the author.

It's power packed mystery thriller book. I loved the story line. Most of us love having pets, that too dogs are preferred by many. The plot is very impressive, the protagonist tries to safeguard the stray dogs and poor animals.

Especially in lock down time, the street dogs lacked for food. That was really heartbreaking. Meanwhile, many people came forward to safeguard dogs and provided food for them, which needs a great applause.

The plot was intriguing and was really heart touching. The story really melted my heart, I felt heavy. The cruelty towards the innocent animal was shown abruptly. I had great time with the book. Author has proceeded the plot very smooth and writing style is pleasing. I recommend this book to all pet lovers.
