Router Basics Simulator: Cisco Interactive Mentor gives you the best of all worlds -- instruction, experience, and assistance. The Router Basics Simulator consists of a CD containing an interactive tutorial that runs on standard Internet browsers, so you can learn configuration basics anywhere at any time. The tutorial is divided into two modules. Module one provides you with a fundamental overview of the IOS Command Line Interface architecture and editor features. You will learn how to navigate between command modes, configure basic router settings, save and reload router configurations, evaluate router status using show commands, recover lost passwords, and update the software image on a router. Module two presents an introduction to TCP/IP and RIP, covering subnet mask calculation, IP routing operation, and configuration of IP addresses, subnet masks, and RIP. Interspersed throughout the modules are labs and exercises that enable you to practice real techniques on virtual routers.
