I was given copies of some of these books by the author and read them as an advanced reader as they were published. All of my reviews were voluntary.
Dragon Bodyguard
Lucas awakes disoriented and confused to find that time has passed and his sister is still asleep, encased in ice, and his brother is gone. He has been summoned by his master, the demigod Rufus, and he can't believe how much the land has changed while he slept. He is sent to Earth to find Rufus' brother, Daniel, another demigod. He needs to keep Daniel from mating with a human women. Okayyyy.
Nora is a baker with a problem. Her ex has wiped out her savings and left her with no choice but to try to use his "natural" recipes to try to hold her business together. Ugh. But then she meets a man, no, a supernatural who says he dreamed of her and needs her. Yeah, not going to happen. Then she meets another supernatural...and he kidnaps her.
Nice world building. Interesting concepts. Great action romance. Can't wait for the next one.
Demigod’s Destiny
In the second book of this series, we get Daniel's story. Daniel is sure that an actress, Isabel Fortune, is meant to be his mate. He has seen her in his dreams and is sure he is meant to marry her (sound familiar?). Nora hooks him up with a woman she knows that works as a tour guide. Parker is usually mistaken for a male because of her raspy voice and the way she dresses. She isn't buying Daniel's dream woman story and ditches him in a hurry. Unfortunately, demigods don't like being left to cool their heels and he traps her in a bubble until he figures out how to make "the boy" do what he wants. Find Isabel and introduce him. Nora assures her that Daniel is on the up-and-up, so Parker finds out where Isabel is working and they board a plane to head there. Mid-flight, Daniel determined detects another demigod on board and uh..removes them from the plane. Things go from bad to worse when she gets sucked into a portal and ends up - in a fairy world. Daniel and Isabel soon follow and the game is on.
Demigod’s Secret (This book I bought and read)
This book is about Rufus, Isabel, and Pip. Isabel, you may remember, is staying in the Outlands with Rufus and Pip, but Rufus is not at all happy about her being there. He doesn't trust her and he has plenty to worry about without adding a fairy to the mix. Isabel tries to stay out of Rufus' way and to look out for Pip as best she can.
Rufus is doing his best to keep up the firewalls around his castle, but it is taking a toll on him to shore them up every day. When he finds that Pip and Isabel are on the wrong side of the safety firewall, he is not happy. Both of them are supposed to be hiding, not exploring. When he finds them in an altercation with two minor demigods, he is angry and runs the trespassers off his land. He chastises Pip but gives him permission to practice his magic as long as he does it in the castle. He turns his attention to Isabel but he finds he is more on the defensive than the offensive with her. She points out that there is something going on outside the firewall that he needs to get to the bottom of and he is neglecting to do so.
There is a lot that happens in this book to move the series forward. You should the books in order so you can keep up with who everyone is, but you will be able to follow the action in this one without having read the others. Eagerly awaiting the next book!
Fire King
In this book, we get Rax's story and find out more about Lizbeth and Kinto.
Rax is a demigod who has been living and working in the human world for many years. He is in a group that works to keep the presence of supernaturals in this world a secret by cleaning up messes. Rax has worked to refine little devices to make the group's job easier. (One he calls "Mr. Jumper" as it always takes him and anyone he is touching to a specific alley where the group can have a "private" conversation with a miscreant.) The group has been trying to find out who is trafficking in supernaturals but keeps hitting dead ends. When they finally catch a break, it sends Rax back to a place he didn't want to return to - the demi world.
Rax was once known as Raxirim of the Great Tribes, before he had to flee to the human realm. All his old home holds is danger and bad memories. He can't even get there on his own anymore. Which is how he ends up owing a favor to Rufus and thus showing up to "protect" Rufus and Daniel's sister Lizbeth from whatever she and Kinto are up to. Needless to say, Lizbeth doesn't know why he is really there but she doesn't want him following them around.
I am not going to ruin the story for you. It is a good one with lots of action and even some romance (of course). If you have been reading the series you will love this one. If you are just joining in you should go back and start at the beginning, but I think you can follow along without reading the other books first.
Dragon’s Demon
Yipee! We get Kinto's love story. I like his Portia Red a lot. She is strong, determined, and compassionate, no matter her parentage.
Portia lives in a world that is between the human world and, well, hell. Her master requires two things of her - keep intruders out and keep the realm's creatures in. When Kinto Kai drops into her world she instinctively knows she needs to hide and protect him. He has already had a run-in with some nasties and is wounded. She takes him to her secret hiding place and tends his wounds. Once he is stronger she wipes his memories of her and shoves him through a crack back into the human world.
When Portia is tasked with retrieving an escaped creature from the world above, she is forced to play dumb when confronted by, of all things, a patrolling vampire. Just when she thinks she is going to have to defend herself from him, Kinto shows up. Though he doesn't remember her she feels safe with him. While trying to unobtrusively escape from him, she instead finds herself in a clinch with him in a supply closet. Yum.
There is much to this story and if you have been reading along you will recognize most of the beings Portia eventually meets. Jane describes an interesting place located below the human world. Strange creatures are just the beginning - a war is being fought between fire and ice and it is anybody's guess which will win and what that will mean.
Demigod’s Curse
I really liked Gabriel and Jememiah's story. Gabriel is Rufus, Lizbeth, and Daniel's adopted brother who caused the whole demi world to be punished when he killed three gods. Gabriel himself was cast into a world filled with fire and black blobs of darkness where he was continuously attacked by monsters and eventually succumbed to the darkness until he became the darkness. Lizbeth and her siblings eventually dragged him from his hell and defeated his monster. Now he was free and everyone knew the truth about why he killed the gods - because they attacked Lizbeth. Only one of that group remains and Gabriel is determined to find him and finish him, too.
Jememiah Kai is Kinto and Lucas's sister and was Gabriel's dragon before he was sent to hell. She was cast into sleep and when she awakened she spent much of her time searching for him. She knew he was in love with Lizbeth and doesn't know how he feels now that Liz is with Rax. She has made herself a home near his and spends her time with her hell hounds and other magical creatures that keep appearing in Gabriel's area from out of the cracks that lead to the hellish realm where he was trapped. She isn't sure why she is there but she feels like she must be near Gabriel. He basically ignores her and his magical creatures are even stranger than hers. Quite the group.
Not going to spoil the story for you. Bad guys, good guys, dragons, gods, demons, and strange creatures. Fighting, loving, and forgiveness. Enjoy.
I am glad this is a complete set, from the start to the finish. If these books had been separate, I would have been totally annoyed. I was enjoying reading story that was unfolding in the first book, and then I got to the 2 nd book. I was getting confused as the dialogue was getting misshapen. I didn't know who was speaking, we're they in the demi world or in Manhattan? The beasts description was vague with long legs and an egg shaped head, later on it is then described as a hound in a later book, book 5 was the same, confusing! The only thing that was descriptive was the sex. It was very hard to picture in the mind, trying to follow the story as if watching a film, as I usually can when reading a book, unfortunately the vague description of the cracks, the beasts, even the characters, for example, Rax, he has silver hair and eyes? is he an old man? That is the only description you have. Ms. Striker. I love your tenacity for a great story in your books, you can picture it in your mind as you write. But please let your readers see it as you see it, and give us more description.
This box set tells of demigods fighting evil of the gods that made them and taking on the dark evil and replacing it with light, and finding love with their mates some are human and some fairies and some are the dragons that have served them through their life's.I would like to say thank you for all your hard work and may fortune smile 😃on you always 😁from a bookworm
I absolutely loved this series of books and would highly recommend them to all readers who enjoy great romantic books. Handsome demigods and dragons and equally beautiful women who range from demigod, dragon, woman from hell and humans all making for great romantic stories. I am sure that readers will enjoy it as much as I did.
The rating of this was easy. Every book in the series was excellently put together. They each had their own story to tell. Each had very emotional experiences. Each a different type of battle to fight both emotional and physical. I enjoyed them all and would recommend them to anyone. Thank you.
This would be a decent book if it wasn't so confusing. The story just keeps switching ahead from paragraph to paragraph. There is nothing dividing each scene of the story. I keep having to go back and reread the paragraphs to make sure I didn't read it wrong. Way to confusing and irritating to keep reading. Glad I didn't pay much for it.
Took me awhile to complete the books. No Fault of the books, but personal life gets busy! This set was alot to read! I loved it and will most likely re-read them in the future! This wont be a big review, as I should have reviewed as I went. I absolutely HATE spoilers so with this review I will not. Looking forward to my next book!
A great read. The care and thought that was put into this universe is stunning to me. The story and characters flowed beautifly. I do have to point out that the word glissade was a little, no a lot, to much.
I enjoyed how each story molded the next. Different types of supernatural creatures working together for a common goal of ridding the world of evil and family however it is found.
When dragons leap between worlds, fight other super natural beings, jump through chaos for family, friends, and love to find peace you get a balance of energy.
Such a delightful story with a great ending. One of great characters and story line. One I look forward to read again soon.you will fall for these characters over again.
