With more than one million objects at over 200 historic places, the National Trust looks after one of the world’s most significant collections of heritage objects and fine art. '125 Treasures from the Collections of the National Trust' brings together a selection of highlights.
Over 60 curators and specialists helped select the objects from places across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to reflect the quality and range of the collections in our care.
The book takes readers on a journey through time starting with an Ancient Greek vase and ending with 20th-century design. Here, we take you closer to reveal more of the treasures and their connections to our places.
Nice selection of treasures presented in chronological order with a short but informative description of each one. I couldn’t help noticing that some National Trust properties seem to feature more heavily than others, and many not at all, so this is about the most interesting/ valuable/ unique treasures regardless of location. The book has been produced to mark the 125th anniversary of the National Trust and achieves what it sets out to do. However, the National Trust has so much else to offer. Perhaps the 125 natural treasures would make a nice companion volume.
My go to read every morning with my first cup of tea. I was transported to different worlds on each page. I wish it was 1125 treasures (or more!) Such a remarkable and diverse collection of items and they’re only the tip of the iceberg. A lovely little book for anyone interested in fascinating objects of all kinds.
