This book goes through everything and can be totally intimidating for the beginner, but is necessary for soemone trying several pieces that are radically different from one another. It discusses tools, none of which the beginner will want to invest in, but which it will become apparent are necessary for a professionally-finished piece.

The only real objection I have is that the photos have been reproduced so many times it is often very difficult to see the techniques he is discussing. This second edition uses the photos from the first edition I suppose, and they are not as clear as one might like, but when one is deep in a project is needs help, they might still be useful. I'd have to recommend finding a book with clearer pictures and use his written instructions for backup. Too bad. It looks like it could be heaven-sent help.

Like his discussion of butted welting. Love what he says in the appendix:
Warning: When taking the various panels off, everything looks very simple and straightforward. By the time you get to putting it all back together, it is surprising how much has been forgotten and how strange it all looks...
