Acts 1-12
The book of Acts is the first volume of church history. It connects the early church to the ministry of Jesus and provides the backdrop for the New Testament epistles. The book's focus on the church and the spread of the gospel makes studying Acts a must for any believer serious about living out the Great Commission.
Join John MacArthur as he explains each verse in a way that is both doctrinally precise and intensely practical. Taking into account the cultural, theological, and Old Testament contexts of each passage, MacArthur tackles interpretive challenges and fairly evaluates differing views, giving the reader confidence in his conclusions.
The MacArthur New Testament Commentary series comes from the experience, wisdom, and insight of one of the most trusted ministry leaders and Bible scholars of our day. Each volume was written to be as comprehensive and accurate as possible, dealing thoroughly with every key phrase and word in the Scripture without being unnecessarily technical. This commentary will help to give a better, fuller, richer understanding of God's Word, while challenging the reader to a vibrant personal spiritual walk.
A great resource for pastors, teachers, leaders, students, or anyone desiring to dig deeper into Scripture

As usual, John MacArthur makes it difficult to quit reading his commentaries. His research into historic facts, his comparison of other books in the Bible, and his mastery of explanation makes Acts come alive.

This commentary picks up on details and connections that you would probably otherwise miss. It made me grow to love Acts more, and ultimately love God more.

Definitely reflective of his preaching style. I found it helpful, and not overly academic. Not necessarily a must read on Acts, but a quality perspective on devotional content

Read through as my morning devotions for several months (along with listening to sermons on each of the passages). Excellent exposition and application of the first 12 chapters of Acts.

What I have learned from MacArthur's commentary is that he does not believe in the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit was only for the Apostles. I totally disagree.

As one would expect: Biblical, faithful, spiritually challenging, and among other things cessationist. This is certainly not a heavyweight technical commentary that is needed for a serious exposition of Acts, but it is a good supplement.
