A killer is watching... A bride's wedding ends in tragedy when her matron of honour is brutally murdered. Detective Inspector Ian Anderson leads the investigation. He will need all his skills to find the killer whose identity and trademarks are as mysterious as the motive behind the crime. He suspects two business owners in the city of having secrets they don't want unearthed. But are they capable of murder? With chilling precision, the ruthless killer continues his murderous rampage as D.I. Anderson desperately looks for clues to solve the case before another person he cares about is targeted. This explosive new thriller by the author of the September series is set in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.
Savage Point, setup with a dramatic opening scene, pulled me in straight away. The central character Detective Anderson was portrayed as a typical cop, always tugged by the case to keep digging for the truth, even with a new wife by his side. Right when you think you have figured out who's dunnit, another clue arrives, and another body turns up. I loved the way this author took you through the details of the investigation, I really felt like I was seeing the case as the main character and it made me want to find out what happened. Kudos to Ms. Fitzpatrick!
Savage Point is the 4th book by Denise Fitzpatrick and I enjoyed this so much. It grabbed my attention right from the start and the twists and turn had me hooked. I read it on Kindle as I didn't want to wait to get into it. I also purchased the book for my Mother (88 years old) to read. During Covid-19 lock downs she read the first three books and wanted the 4th right away. She was at the start not sure about reading a crime novel so decided to read it during the day however once into it she had it read in two days. She is now asking for book five and is eagerly awaiting its release.
wow-move over lee child....!!! i was hooked from the first page and it was a challenge to stop reading far into the night, when i should have been getting my beauty sleep..... denise's descriptive writing has really come of age with this book.. the characters are real and the mix of mundane and hair raising, propels you forward at neckbreak speed.. and as an older reader i appreciated the fact that there were virtually no flashbacks or annoying chapters on different subjects designed to test memories, before they linked up to the main plot. i really cant wait to read the next book 'primed for evil'-having already absorbed the teaser at the conclusion of 'savage point'. ken j lawson oamaru, nz
“Savage Point”, written by Denise Fitzpatrick, is the first book in her “D.I. Anderson” series. From the very first chapter I was compelled to keep reading as the murder mystery became entwined with suspense, family life, romance and great detective work. A very well written and descriptive book! I have also read Denise’s three books called the “September” series and enjoyed them greatly. Can’t wait for the second book in this latest series.
From page one, Savage Point kept me wanting to know more. The storyline and drama of this thriller had me turning pages to the end. I still didn't guess the killer until Denise Fitzpatrick cleverly revealed whodunit! Ian and Maryanne work well together as their personal lives entwine with the mystery of this story. Book 1 in the Detective Inspector series is brilliant - I can't wait for Book 2 as I can bet it will weave more incredibly difficult to untangle dramas, both for the characters and the readers. Excellent read!
As I have found with Denise Fitzpatrick's other books, they make me addicted to reading! Normally I don't have much time and it takes forever to get through a book, but with Denise's ones I find myself reading for longer because I can't put them down. They really keep me on the edge of my seat! It has been the highlight of lockdown :) I really enjoyed Savage Point! And I am definitely looking forward to 'Primed for Evil' after reading the preview at the end.
A killer on the loose in small town New Zealand is the dramatic start to this tale of intrigue and passion. Maryanne’s marriage to a police detective coincides with a trail of ruthless destruction circling ever closer around her and daughter Sarah. Friends and acquaintances have to be reassessed as husband Ian and his police team race to solve a series of horrific crimes. A captivating read throughout.
A fabulous crime read that grabs you from the first few paragraphs. It start off with a bang and doesn’t let up as the bodies pile up and the tension rises. Detective Inspector Ian Anderson, and his police colleagues from Tauranga N.Z., diligently follow the clues and the perps, in this gripping crime drama of greed, drugs and murder. Even when it’s gets too close to home, these fearless men and women, from the Tauranga Central Police Station, don’t shirk with what they have to face. Even though it’s been over 40 years since I visited N.Z., the memories there will last a lifetime and I can still recall quite a few of the locations, which, to me, gives a lot of authenticity to the read. The characters are wonderfully realistic, each with their own strengths and flaws, and as you delve deeper in the novel, you feel their emotions. This is a great start to the D.I. Anderson series, and I most definitely look forward to continuing my acquaintance with with them in their further adventures. A most definite five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ star read for a fast paced authentic crime read.
If you enjoy a page-turning murder mystery, this one is for you! The twists and turns in the plot had me thinking no one was safe in this town and who the heck was next on the killer's list? The hot bedroom scenes between the detective and his wife add to the sizzle. Set in New Zealand's beautiful coastal city of Tauranga, this was a most enjoyable read.
Savage Point is an exciting thriller that captured my attention from start to finish. There are many strings for Detective Inspector Ian Anderson to unwind in his search for a murderer. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
A cleverly written and involving plot that makes you want to read on and find out 'whodunnit'. I loved that it was set in the Bay of Plenty, with many of the locations mentioned in the book being right on my doorstep. Fantastic setting, intriguing characters, and an all-round great read!
This was recommended by a friend, but although it was an acceptable read, some of the characters were a bit two dimensional and the plot wasn't always believable. It was fun to work out who the killer was though and it was a relatively easy to read book.
I found this in the library after it was recommended. It's an easy and entertaining read, but nothing entirely original to make it stand out or stick in your mind after reading. I see it's got some good reviews (possibly from the authors friends???), but unfortunately it just wasn't really for me.
Wow. Denise’s writing is going from strength to strength. I have just finished reading “Savage Point”, the 1st in the DI Anderson Series. This book captivated my full attention from the very first page and held my attention to the very last page. The twists and turns and possibility of several suspects being the guilty party was excellently written. Well done Denise. I totally recommend this book.
