The Rose of Death

Rate this book
It’s a week before Christmas, and a policeman on his nightly beat is approached by a man whose hand has been cut off. Shortly afterwards the unidentified man dies, but on his body is found a strange white rose. Hospital doctor Dick Forbes passes the information on to journalist Jack Davey, and thence to Hugh Marston—the three forming the majority of ‘The Critics’ Club’, an amateur crime-solving group. Marston is the nephew of famous detective Sir Arthur Sinclair—but Sinclair has not been well and is convalescing at his country home Sheering Manor. It doesn’t take long for the case to blossom into a complicated mystery involving more deaths, with appearances of the strange white rose—both in floral and jewellery form—being central to this thorny case.
