Dantem has finally moved all his pieces into place. His forces gathered, nations aligned, heroes vanquished. The Bad Guy is ready to make his power play on the entire world, but there's one last game to be played, one last series of foolish heroes and manipulative villains that stand in his way.
Unfortunately for them, they are about to play against the master, and this time, Dantem is playing keeps.
Ok, this is a series that took me quite by surprise! Normally, I'm not a big fan of the whole VRMMORPG concept, and even less of the ghost in the machine theme, but this series actually pulls it off with a great deal of skill. In this, the third book, just when it appears that the main character has accomplished his goals, the story suddenly takes a left turn into the twilight zone. What happens is a trope that's been done before, but not quite in the way that this one pulls it off.
Overall; this is a series that kicks much butt, and really isn't interested in names...
Ill be waiting, impatiently, for the next book. (You hear that Simon? Time to get back to work!!!)
I absolutely loved this series. At first I wasn't sure about it, but the story just got better and better. It's very rare that I find myself rooting for a ruthless villain, but I couldn't help but do so. Dantem was amazing. So happy I took a chance on the first book.
Loved the ending, very Orwellian. This was simply a fun series, glossed over the repetitive stuff, thankfully, but the battles were good and so were the dynamics. It’s not high literature to be sure, but it’s a great read, enjoy it!
The direction was uninspired. The battles were boring. The twists were unbelievable. This was a bad ending to a good series. All in all, just a massive disappointment.
Too much juvenile banter between characters, felt like the author was using that as padding to stretch out the book around an otherwise spare plotline. Ok to read, but not particularly satisfying.
This book felt like it was rushed to finish, it kept jumping to the next scene then doing a quick recap of what happened. The other books was better with more detail
