Conflict, loyalty and violence: The effects of social networks on behaviour

Rate this book
In this volume, a theoretical model is presented explaining the conflict dampening effect of crisscross structures. This network effect, also known under the heading «conflicting loyalties theory», is well-established in cross cultural research. The explanation offered is developed in a rational choice framework. In conclusion, the outlines of a social capital theory are sketched.

Fascinating little book that brings into focus crisscross effect in social networks and the maintenance of peace in stateless societies (like the Internet, in my mind)
