Boris, a hermit crab, decides he needs a beautiful shell to live in. What happens after that is a heartwarming true story that will delight beach lovers of all ages. With beautiful original watercolor illustrations by celebrated artist Nella Khanis, the story of Boris the Crab is a timeless tale of joy and wonder that will appeal to children and adults alike.
I ordered this beautifully illustrated book (original watercolors by Nella Khanis) for my granddaughter. However, while reading it to my almost 3 years old, watching her eyes following the illustrations vividly describing the adventures of Boris the Crab, I couldn't help to see the meaning, yet not clear to a child's mind but obvious for the grandparent. The authors Nella Khanis and Linda Mule is not only telling about the adventures of a little crab on a small Sigsbee Beach, but they are also telling the story of survival. Don't look for the shiniest shells, don't try to stand out among the other less attractive shells on that little beach, or you are at risk of being picked up by a "lady in red rubber boots". Boris the crab was lucky, that the lady brought him back to the safety of that beach. What if she wouldn't be so kind and nature-friendly? Thank you Nella and Linda for taking care of the sea creatures and depicting them so lovingly in Boris the Crab!
