Simple, entertaining and reflective.

Concise and clear perspective presented. A nice start to a conversation with students experiencing life challenges with hearing difficulties. Great opportunity for life lessons.

This is a great book for preschool children through first grade written about a boy with hearing loss who gets his first pair of hearing aids. I like that the book has illustrations of the hearing aids that I am sure will help children to connect to the story. Also, illustrations of Maxi as a real boy will help them relate what they are experiencing with Maxi's experiences. The story is narrated in a way to help young children understand the importance of differences in others and in ourselves. Children who are having this impairment may find comfort by knowing that they are not alone to use the aids, while their peers who do not have the impairments may learn about the hearing aids and can be taught skills like acceptance and tolerance. This is also a great book for parents, for teachers and caregivers who work with children having hearing loss.
