"...I have no idea how to keep that from happening but through the ministry of the Church and its holy priests to give me guidance. You see: Princess Alicia—”

The slide quickly shut.

“Hey!” Mr. Weber raged as he struggled to open the slide against the priest in the other section. “I said I need God’s help!”

“You have no help here, Weber. Go somewhere else!”

“What kind of a priest are you, turning down a lost lamb before he even starts?”

“A sane one!”

Alicia is a princess who's lived in a castle her whole life. One day she decided to leave the castle walls and see the town for the first time while her father was out. But she is so sheltered, she doesn't know what to expect and she reacts... lets say, poorly. Alicia is Emperor Kuzko, Price Akeem from "Welcome to America" and Mr. Burns all rolled into one. All the books and finest teachers in the world can't help you if you're never been self reliant.

This story is very well written. The character and timing is great. It's a mix of bitchy disney princess meets the real world (And is appalled).

Spoiled Alicia is an understatement. She has no common sense and drives people away with her overbearing personality.

This is a funny story filled with believable well written characters. It gets kind of silly at the end with a bucnh of disck joacks,  but it's more of an exaggerated example of "Man hating feminism" rather than a cheap joke. It's all in good fun.

I highly recommend you read this book if you get the chance.

I can't wait to start the next 2!

Naive, spoilt Princess Alicia is in charge of the castle and kingdom when her father, the king leaves for business. After a trip to town to see her subjects, she enforces many new rules that affects how everyone spends their day to day lives.
There was humour throughout the text at Alicia’s choices, which I think some young adults would enjoy. It was quite over the top, however I think that was the idea and would appeal to certain audiences. Alicia did not grow as a character, however I know there are other books, so maybe that is yet to come. It was a short, quick read was easy to get through and offered a unique concept. I received a free copy of this book from the author through Voracious Readers in exchange for a review.

I truly enjoyed this book as the author truly is a new voice in how women are preceived through the eyes of men. Yes Alicia is super spoiled with her maids and lofty comforts. However, this is the life her father the King has allowed her to live. But, is she really clueless regarding the world around her? As, Alicia views the world she sets out to right wrongs done towards women from her point of view. This is where the fun begins Alicia turns the table on the men and puts them on notice that there is a new Boss Babe in town!!!! I highly recommend this story as there is more than meets the eye as the story unfolds!!! I am excited to read the next installment in this series. Thank you Voracious Readers Only and author for my free copy of this awesome book!!!

This book was gifted to me by the author through voracious readers.

A sheltered princess who has been sheltered from normal life.
Once she is exposed to the townsfolk, everything becomes a problem for her to fix, much to the dislike of everyone.

A quick read, that exposes the naievity of sheltered children. The occasional smile at some of the author's descriptions. There wasn't much to the plot, but I enjoyed the characters and their interactions. Good for a giggle.

What happens when an extremely sheltered, pampered and ridiculously naive child visits a market in town....? Read to find out LOL!

From saving chickens to chastity belts this was a very different read for me - very well written characters, some to love, some to want to shake/hope they find a spine.

My 13year old read it too (she reads a book or two a day like me) and she said it was 'confusing, but good - she felt like Alicia had a big heart but zero life experience. Perhaps she needs less servants and more independence!'.

This was a silly, lighthearted... at times ridiculous, quick read book. The characters are well developed and the plot is easy to follow. If you are looking for a "brain candy " kind of read this might be for you.

Thank you to VRO and the author for providing me with this novel. The opinion left here is my own.

I was offered this book via Voracious Readers in exchange for review. My only thoughts are WTF? And someone just tell the spoiled child No! Well written, but minimal plot line. Also, chastity cages? Men will be men.

A lovely little book if you want a funny lovely story. There are some grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. Great book about how a sheltered spoilt girl can cause a whole lot of trouble. I enjoyed this book immensely

An easy fun read. It was entertaining to see what Spoiled Alicia would encounter and do as a result.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers, this doesn’t affect my opinion of the book, all my thoughts are my own and honest.

Alicia’s heart is certainly in the right place. Everything else, however, is not!

While her father is away on business, Alicia is opened to the world and things did not go to plan. She decides to reshape it to how Alicia thinks the world should be.

This is about a young princess who decides to go down to the town to see how her people are and it snowballs from there.

This book didn’t have too much of a plot, but it was very character-driven, and I didn’t mind.

I really liked all the characters, especially when they all interacted with each other. Alicia was my favourite, she was cute and hilarious. She was definitely spoilt, but I did not think for a second that she knew she was being spoilt. She has never left her castle, had maids for everything. Overall had a very very sheltered life, and this behaviour was the norm for her. I also felt very sorry for her, to be brought up like that.

I really enjoyed the writing, it flowed very well and kept me engaged. I found it a very lighthearted read and hilarious, I really loved the humour.

Overall 4 stars, the ending let it down for me, but I would definitely recommend picking it up especially if you want a laugh.

Thank you James Starvoice for the chance to review this book.

Spoiled Sport...

I’m not sure the actual intention of this book - although fun in concept overall - is to entertain young people. Despite numerous grammatical errors (I hope this is not a final draft) the premise could have been successful. I’m not super prudish, but the whole concept of male privates being locked up because of a wayward “spoiled” and unruly youngster seems a bit on the obsessive. I was fine with the chickens, and the eggs, then it went downhill from there. Sorry, I found it a quick but unfulfilling read.

This tale is thoroughly absurd, with memorable imagery, childish willy-humour and fairytale-esque characters. It is ridiculous but gripping; I read it in one sitting and walked away in a much jollier mood.

Meh. Tried to be fun but didn't work for me. I just found it over the top tedious and annoying. Was a quick read but not even worth that time.

What did I just read…

In truth, I mostly read this because it’s short (94 pages) and I was hoping to get another book read toward my 2022 challenge. It was so ??? I’m not even sure what word I need for it. It was like a train wreck and I could not stop reading because I just kept thinking, “it can’t possibly get worse…right?” But it DID? I’m impressed by that much, honestly.

I got this book for free by ‘Voracious Readers’ in exchange for a review on a platform.

What can I say, it was a rather interesting yet slightly awkward read.

The book focuses on a lot of societal issues that are only coming into humankind’s focus now.
Mainly vegan-/vegetarianism and also sex and virtuosity being pinned on the wrong gender.

The story was easy and quick to read with only about 100 pages and as long as you’re open minded it might spark an internal discussion about important challenges our society is facing every day.

*********************spoilers below************************

It is about a 12 year old child that has been growing up sheltered and ‘protected’ from society. She gets confronted with sex and where meat comes from and draws (dare I say it?) true conclusions.

1. She is disgusted by the fact that animals have to die in order for her to eat something - she calls the killing of a chicken murder (which it is) and demands that people under her command stop eating meat/and eggs altogether

2. She happens upon a couple having sex (in their case actually making love) and misunderstands the woman’s moans of pleasure as cries for help.
When she is told how sex works, she is shocked about what the male role in this is and decides that men are too dangerous to be closer than 10 feet to women at any given time because they all have ‘the devil’s horn’ as she calls it. The men in her realm are then ordered to wear chastity belts - instead of the women since their ‘horns’ can sometimes not be controlled.

Her formerly trusted counsel (that consisted mostly of men), finds her ideas ridiculous and they make fun of her and try to get her to reconsider. Mainly because she is just a stupid inexperienced and sheltered kid that has no idea how the real world works. — (Why should the world work like that when it doesn’t have to?)
While her trusted maids (she has a lot of them) at least play along with her rules.
This right here might have been the real bummer for me. These important points (and I am not saying that everyone should live a vegan/ vegetarian lifestyle nor that men should wear chastity belts) are delivered in a YA novel by a child that isn’t taken seriously and is getting mocked for every horrible thing she’s trying to eradicate. Especially since she is going about it in the worst way possible. These sociological issues are being made ridiculous by their portrayal rather than helping to raise awareness. (which I really hope was the point in the first place)
The issues as mentioned above are important, yet the portrayal of them turns these real issues into phrases that aren’t meant to be taken seriously. Basically like men treat women every day, but trying to mask it by turning the main character into a caricature of a woman, who can’t be trusted into making reasonable decisions and is being undermined by her trusted staff every step of the way.
