Maastricht to Madière: A cycling Odyssey

After his retirement Rens Zomerdijk decided to fulfil a long time to cycle from his home in The Netherlands to friends living in the South of France.During that winter he planned a route more or less straight down the middle of France, choosing quiet secondary roads. A description of the actual route is included in this book.He looked up interesting places to visit, where to stay, and bought a new bike.In the Spring of the following year he was ready and set off from Maastricht to cycle the almost 1500 kilometres to the foothills of the Pyrenees.He kept a diary, made notes about people, places and the natural surroundings. He also sent and received e-mails during the whole journey. All this has now been worked into a flowing narrative.
