In the beautifully illustrated picture book 'Oops! A funny story about the hiccups going the wrong way," poor Poppy Pufferfish bounces at the bottom of the ocean. She has the hiccups and doesn't know how to stop the hiccups. With each hiccup, she swallows a huge gulp of water that makes her bounce around like a huge soccer ball. Her fins are therefore set up in such a way that they have become sharp pins that sting whoever comes close. Then she meets Oggy Octopus, almost pinching him with one of her pinsOggie is eager to help her. He might know a solution to Poppy's hiccup problem. With this newfound friendship, Poppy hopes to finally get rid of her hiccups and get back to her normal shape. She doesn't want to pinch anyone with her pins. She just wants to swim with the rest of the fish in the sea again.Oggy tries all kinds of tricks to make the hiccups go away but nothing works. On one last try, Poppy holds her breath for a long time but OOPS, Poppy, what happened there? She has no longer hiccups but now an air bubble is popping out at the back."'Oops' is a funny written picture book for children who can secretly laugh at a fart."The picture books of author and illustrator Mireille van Yperen are all about special friendships. Together with a special friend, you can deal with every problem in the world. Her stories are often based on her own experiences as a mother of a child with ADHD and a child with autism, where simple problems often seem insurmountable, but by working together and searching for a solution, the story always ends with a happy ending.
Since 1995, I have been working as a graphic designer and web designer. At first, as an employee, but since 2003 in my own company. In addition to graphic design, pre-press, and web design, I also write and illustrate children's books. I have written, illustrated, and published ten picture books, all available on Amazon. I'm originally from the Netherlands, but I've been traveling between the USA and the Netherlands on a regular basis since 2022.
Fun facts: Crazy about tea, chocolate, and traveling. My cat is called Kip, which confuses the neighbourhood because Kip in Dutch means Chicken.
This was so cute and my daughter couldn’t stop laughing. It’s beautifully illustrated and a great story of a friendship that remains despite pain caused by this poor little puffer fish.
This story was fun to read and offered beautiful illustrations throughout. This story showed the power of friendship and going to the “depths” to help a friend out. This book is a must read for all ages!
