Good News for the Fainthearted

Rate this book
Do you wish you could be gentle and kind with your children but struggle to actually do it?

Do you want to feel more joy and confidence as you mother?

Do you wonder what Jesus has to do with your everyday life as a mother?

Lauren Davis is a mother of three children under the age of 10. She relates to the frustrations and uncertainty that mothers face as they raise their young children. In her debut book, Lauren Davis brings good news to fainthearted mothers: God sees the struggles we face in parenting, He invites us to lean hard on Him, and He actively enters into our circumstances with us.

In a conversational "between friends" style, the author reveals the hardest challenges she has faced in raising young children as well as the practical ways God assisted her and participated with her in everyday life.

Davis prompts the reader to explore selected verses from the Bible and consider how God's Word and prayer can speak into the reader's own personal struggles in mothering. Come and see how God will restore your strength and joy as you walk hand in hand with Him.

This was such an encouraging, uplifting and yet convicting study. Through her own stories, Lauren shows how God can and does show up, keeping His many promises to be strength in our weakness and meet our soul's deepest needs. But it's the way Scripture is central that gives this study power. We are led to the Source and given time and space to let the Holy Spirit teach and minister to our hearts Himself. I liked that we weren't spoonfed, we weren't treated like all our mothering journeys were supposed to look alike- we were led to the Word and it was allowed to do its work. I really liked that every day we were copying down scripture, giving time for it to take root in our hearts, and encouraged daily to be honest with the Lord about what we wrote. Truly it is only Jesus who can change our hearts and mothering and Lauren knows that, but she doesn't just tell us so, she sets up the study so we can taste and see for ourselves that the Lord is good, He is present, and He gently leads us in the way we should go.

This was a wonderful devotional workbook that uses Scripture, thoughtful questions to ponder, true-life stories and guided prayer focus to encourage any mother in her calling as a nurturer of children.
Lauren weaves all of the above into a seamless and inspiring book for any mother with children as young as babies and on up till Middle School ages. Please read and be encouraged like I was!
