HOW TO GROW AND DEFEND YOUR WEALTH What matters when it comes to investing? It’s not what you may think. Trade deals, tweets, and more may affect the market for a moment in time, but the reality is most news is just noise― sound bites that ultimately don’t matter. So, what does? Steve Blumenthal has spent his career studying just that. He’s seen how that noise encourages investors to behave badly. But you don’t have to fall prey to the same mistakes investors routinely make. On My Navigating Stock Market Cycles explains the ins and outs of what from long- and short-term debt cycles to the merciless math of loss―the concept that compounding interest works differently on the way up than it does on the way down―and the impact of recessions. Then it provides a when to play offense, when to play defense, and how to carefully grow and defend your core wealth in a way that enables you to explore select investment opportunities that may further enhance your wealth. It is a must read for anyone seeking an actionable investment process.
On My Radar: Navigating Stock Market Cycles by Stephen Blumenthal goes against the grain of what many people practice. Buying stocks when everyone is selling and selling stocks when everyone is buying is a key taught by Sir John Temple. Throughout this wealth management, you will find words of wisdom by some of the greats in investing. Warren Buffett is one of my favorites and finding that Blumenthal practices many of his tactics makes this book fun to read.
I found Stephen Blumenthal focuses mainly on long-term investments and how to navigate through the cycles our economy goes through. The author explains why you need to watch more than the rise and fall of a stock, but also what is happening in the world. This book is thorough and has visual aids that explain what he is teaching.
On My Radar: Navigating Stock Market Cycles by Stephen Blumenthal is a useful financial guide that will help you navigate your investments in the stock market. For the seasoned investor, much of the information has been done before and is simply common sense, buy low, sell high. When everyone else is selling, you should be buying. For the novice, however, this book is full of solid advice presented in a logical and informative manner. The book provides an actionable plan that will help you realize the gains you want without massive losses along the way. You will learn how to defend and protect your core wealth and grow your investments. Ride the investment wave that will get you through difficult financial times with ease by reading this book.
The author begins the book by giving a brief history of recent market events such as the crash on 2007 and how they came about. While this might seem obvious to some, to laymen, or those just entering the stock market, this information is valuable to learn the warning signs and things to avoid. As the author says: “Sell when everyone else is buying and buy when everyone else is selling.” As this was good advice he received early in his career. Plenty of interesting concepts were explored and explained here, such as the 80 Core-20 Explore concept, amongst others that I have never heard of. I liked the charts and graphs that helped explain what the author was talking about. Overall, the book was a good explanation of the stock market, how to navigate it and how to avoid costly mistakes.
