Noah's Crossing #2

After the Wedding

After the Wedding

A worried wife…
At eighteen, Mary Reynolds was too young to get married. At least that’s what people said. But she loves her new husband, and she is sure they will be happy forever… even if becoming a wife means she needs to grow up fast.

A nervous husband…
Rick Reynolds has bitten off a lot to chew; a new marriage, medical school, and a move half way across the state. But the thing that scares him is what he’s asking of his young wife… that she leave everything and everyone she knows and loves. Because if she can’t bring herself to go with him, what is he going to do?

On the brink of the rest of their lives…
Setting up a new life together can be a mighty task. Will Mary and Rick’s love be enough? Or will they need God’s help to make their sacred journey into a happy ever after?

After the Wedding is the touching follow up to the novel Instant Daddy, and is the second book in the Noah’s Crossing series by Carol Voss.

I liked this follow-up to Instant Daddy and was gratified to read more of Jessie and Peter's story. I say I liked it, but I didn't love it. I felt that the heroine, Mary, was so immature. She kept insisting that she was ready for marriage but kept proving over and over that she wasn't. I felt that in one instance (no spoiler) she actually behaved like a preteen. In another case, I could not believe that she actually shared intimate details of married life with her girl friends in a public place. I think even an 18 year old would know better than that. I found myself cringing on more than one occasion and having difficulty reading on, just as I could not watch Lucy from I Love Lucy in her ridiculous situations. On the positive side, the writing is (as usual for this author) smooth and error-free. And, since it's a Christian book, the romance and language are clean. There are even scriptural references.

A very short read, this is a good story of relationships and the importance of communication and relying on God in your marriage. It was important to realize the feelings of Mary who was only 18 when she got married and left home. What was more difficult for her was that she left her hometown right after getting married (the honeymoon), so it was a bigger adjustment than it would be for those who might get married and stay in their hometown. Personally, I was excited to get married and be wherever my husband and I chose to go; however, I had already been in college and away from home.

In After the Wedding Mary, age eighteen is married to Rick a pre-med student. Although Mary is young to be getting married and they face many challenges they are asking for guidance from their pastor and both have a strong faith in God to help them find their way for a life long commitment to each other. The author does a great job presenting the problems of newly married couples with the added problems of being so young in this emotion packed story full of faith and solutions to the early problems of their marriage just After the Wedding. Family support plays a strong part in supporting the newly weds. This is an emotion packed Christian romance full of love and hope.

I borrowed After the Wedding, Carol Voss, author from the Kindle Unlimited program.

Mary and Rick are one very young newlywed couple. They are both struggling to be the best wife/husband to each other. Real life situations. Loved getting to see characters from previous books. A sweet romance with a different twist, we don't often get to read about after the wedding.

Love of God

I was an 18 year old bride, I knew God, but wasn't as strong in my faith as I am today at 82.
I too, married the man that made me whole, but the holy part did become deeper until he passed at 41.
That changed our family forever, eventually most of my children began a relationship with God and it in turn brought me back into that relationship.
During the hard times, the challenges the mistakes or missteps, God was there. His protection and strength kept me going.
I must say, that any couple today contemplating marriage should definitely have God at the core. If as a couple you can see that the wedding is the celebration of marriage as God has planned it, you will be taking the best step you ever take.
Your story shows that the Holy Spirit can be, will be a treasure for your life.
I love that prayer is such a significant part continuously in each and every day, in any situation, big or small.
I know as a parent of 5, that I wished I had been more Christ like in teaching my children in those younger years. And even in spite of my errors God found them.
Thank you, I believe that this story will help some young couple today. Marriage in today's world is challenging, but with faith in God and God in your life...you will be strong.
God bless

This is a wonderful love story - one for now a days - you have two teenagers who feel so in love they get married - they're in love and he is going on to medical school - which means a whole lot of changes for her. How will this work out for her? How will it work for them? They are in love and they are in love with GOD and that is the most important thing. What way will he guide them to go - -to or away from each other? I received this book from the Publisher and from Netgalley; all the opinions in this review are not my own.

Enjoyable sweet romance

I enjoyed reading this book. It was fun to see characters from the previous novel interact with the ones from this one. The author did a good job creating a story with a happy ending out of the marriage of a naive teenager who had rarely ever left home, to a first year medical student who will rarely ever be home. I docked it one star simply because the resolution was a little too easy in my opinion, even with them being over the moon in love.

I guess since the first book in the series was so good I expected this one to be as well. I was very disappointed. It was hard to read. I know the main character is 18 but I felt like a 14-year old wrote it. Although I'd like to continue reading to see the changes in Jesse and Peter's lives, I'm not sure I could get through another book written like this.

Sweet Story

I really enjoy this author who writes about real people in a small town trying to live their lives, even in struggles, turning their eyes on God. This newly married couple are finding they can't always plan their steps, but need to trust on the help and direction of The Holy Spirit.

After The Wedding

Personally, my husband and I were Christians when we married but we never invited the Holy Spirit into our marriage daily through committed time to the Lord. Each of us did our own thing and as a result we are divorced today. No one, esp me, was willing to submit.

After The Wedding

Adjustment, instant adjustment, taking each other's feelings, and opinions into consideration. I am looking at it through the eyes of a grandmother and looking back to my marriage of 60 years. Those trials especially with God at the helm of the family only makes a relationship stronger. Noah's Crossing is wonderful story full of life and love.

After The wedding

This was a sweet story about young love and the trials facing them. He was entering pre-med college and she was going to start college. It’s about traveling to a near town, close to the college and the learnings of young married couples, about inviting the Holy Spirit into their lives.

Young Love

Sweet story of young love. It brought back memories of how naive we are when we are young and in love.

I did not like this book as well as Instant Daddy, which preceded it. It was ok, but I didn't have the patience for Mary that I had for Jessie. It's been a long time since I was 18!

Rick and Mary Reynolds are two very young individuals coming together against all odds to try to keep a marriage alive. This story is literally the side-by-side, every day, every moment tale of their own personal love story.

In my opinion, this story was quite boring, and I found that I just couldn't get into it. I know that the work was there in this novel to take it to the next level, it just never made it there in my opinion.
