Just how close are we to the Rapture of the Church? Do events taking place in the Middle East and around the world have prophetic importance? In his latest book, Sound the Trumpets, Jimmy DeYoung examines these question and explains just how near the rapture could possibly be. By comparing four trends from prophetic scripture to current events taking place in the world today, Jimmy shows that the stage is set, every actor is in place and the curtain is about to go up in the end time scenario put forth in the Bible.
Very informative and easy to read, with scripture references to back up all his points.
I especially enjoyed the background given on the Ezekiel 38 countries, and learning about modern day Israel.
I would have given this a higher rating but for the fact that it feels a little dated having been written in the 90's, revised in 2001.
By the way: DeYoung is a fantastic expositor on Revelations and Daniel. I highly recommend looking him up on youtube.
He did a couple of series on the John Ankerberg show that are hands-down the clearest and easiest to understand presentations of end-times prophecy I've seen.
Dr DeYoung's books are easy to read and understand. He is so knowledgeable about prophecy and how movement in the world is bringing the Second Coming of Christ closer. The information about the unfulfilled treaties/agreements wasn't something I was familiar with. It was wonderful to read how some of the Jewish people have everything prepared for the third temple, just as in the days of Moses. Keep looking UP!
Excellent Overview of End-Time Trends Sound the Trumpets is, in my opinion, the best book by the late Jimmy DeYoung. As an expert on Bible Prophecy, DeYoung skillfully writes about four major trends that can be seen in the world today. Foretold by ancient biblical prophets, these trends reveal that we are in the last days. The four major trends are: the return of the Jewish people to Israel; the alignment of nations against Israel; anticipation of peace; and arrangements for the rebuilding of the Temple. As a journalist, DeYoung lived in Jerusalem for several decades. So, he experienced many of the things that he writes about. A standout section in Sound the Trumpets is DeYoung's chapter about the history of the modern state of Israel. The book is a must read for anyone interested in Bible Prophecy.
Very sound information and backed up with scripture. This is an easy read and a very helpful additional piece to use as a study guide when reading prophecy from the bible.
