Rate this book
To save Keanu’s life, Leilani has sacrificed herself and agreed to become the Bride.

As the Twins take her to their castle in the ocean, Leilani soon discovers truths and secrets about both the brothers and herself which she never imagined.

When the Twins announce that the wedding will take place in two days, Keanu gives in to his raging anger and slips back into his dark past in order to be the savior he promised Leilani he’d be — while receiving unexpected help from a mysterious force in the ocean.

But perhaps Leilani can be a hero herself, as the powers of the sea grow stronger in her veins.

The waves are rising.
The ocean is awakening.

It seems that not only Leilani’s letters bind her and Keanu’s destiny together.

So do the Twins.
And so does the Crown.

Lynn Robin (1992) is an author of Paranormal Romance novels.

Born and raised in the historical city of Leiden in the Netherlands, she has felt the urge to write stories ever since she was little— preferably ones with ghosts and other spooky things (probably because her parents let her watch Stephen King film adaptions when she was nine).

Next to that, she likes to add a healthy dose of romance to her books; star-crossed lovers and forbidden romances, preferably about monsters hiding in the bodies of young men, and girls blessed with angelic powers—or at least humans touched by magical abilities.

She made her debut in 2017 with her Dutch series entitled the Schimmenwereld Serie (the Phantom World series), containing six books about ghosts, angels, demons, music, dance, art, and—of course—love. She won the Best Book of 2018 award with the fourth installment, Schimmendroom (Phantom Dream), chosen by the jury of The Dutch Indie Awards.

In 2020 she debuted internationally in English with the highly romantic Kissing Monsters series which concluded with 8 volumes in 2021. Her latest release is The Sea of Her, a still ongoing paranormal romance series in a tropical setting about the Weeper of Pearls, a Wild Stranger from the Sea and a long-lost King of the Ocean.

Besides being passionate about writing, she’s also a rather dedicated running/fitness/yoga/martial arts enthusiast, and likes to spend time with her family, play videogames, or freak herself out watching documentaries about haunted houses (for research, she claims).

wow okay i'm like really excited rn so bear with me. i honestly couldn't go through with this book any faster, i literally gobbled it down bc i just couldn't get enough of Leilani and Keanu and Ms. Robin's beautiful words.

arc generously provided by the author

'There is nothing but sadness and pain in this castle. Nothing but endless agony haunts these hallways.'

after the major cliffhanger that The Sea Of Her ended, i was desperately waiting for this one. The Waves Of Him picks up where the last one ended. Leilani has agreed to become the bride of the twins in exchange for Keanu's safety.

Akamai and Haku have taken Leilani, their bride, to the magnificent castle that no one has ever seen, and lies shrouded in darkness. But there is too much sadness there, too much pain. All of which Leilani feels due to her connection to the ocean.

'There is nothing but chaos in his heart, that he could never sit down for long or create something. He was like the waves of the ocean raging in a storm.'

Keanu was like a violent ocean wave, he's been through so much. He's seen too much at a very young age, forced to feel too much, that the only thing he knows now is to run. and attack when someone gets too close. but for the first time ever, he feels like he belongs. he's finally found someone who calms his storm. who gives him peace and makes him want to be better.

Keanu was such a complicated and broken character. my heart honestly broke for him bc he's been through a lot, he's lost everyone he's loved and holds too many regrets. and the way he did everything to save Leilani? i died

'....reminds her of Keanu. So distant at first, menacing and cautious. Yet so desperate for a gentle brush of her fingers, shyly asking for more by drawing near.'

i loved how Leilani just got Keanu and loved him for who he was. She never judged his past, never asked him to change, and did everything she could to save his life. She literally put herself in grave danger so he could have a future he dreamed of, and so he could be safe.

the romance here and in every other Lynn Robin book is always just SO pure and perfect that it hits me hard every time and makes me loose myself, and crave something like it

anyway, moving on, the plot. it was wow and like always, i didn't see those twists coming at all. It left me with a lot of questions and desperate for the next book!

'The truth was, he needed the wild boy to endure hardships to become the wildest version of himself. There is a battle to be fought. One that needs both the boy's brute force, and the girl's light and kindness.'

also thaT EPILOGUE??!? i refuse to accept it. no whO WAs that?! was it the real Ocean King? has he been secretly helping and guiding those two so they could remove the darkness from the island and make it beautiful and flourishing like it was before? bc i mean it certainly sounded like it

but if there is one thing i've learned from reading so many Lynn Robin books, its that always expect the unexpected, you never know what's going to happen next, so im just going to cross my fingers and wait for the next one!

she also has a way of making you love hateful characters bc Akamai and Haku were royal assholes and definitely deserved what they got. but that didn't stop me from feeling a little compassion for them bc of hearing Akamai talk about his past with The Deep. it saddened me to hear about it and to some extent i understood they were forced into such circumstances but at the same time, they chose to be evil so they kinda deserved what happened to them too.

'It is up to her to heal the wounded sea. It is up to him to keep her safe. It is up to them to defend the crowns and keep them falling into the wrong hands. The sea has bought her and Keanu together for a reason. they are both destined for this.

overall, another brilliant read by Lynn Robin! i honestly can't recommend her books enough bc they are always just so beautiful and amazing!

As he became one of the children of the Deep, he grew up to become a wild man.
And later, to a girl who wrote letters and wept pearls, he became a wild stranger.

Keanu and Leilani !!!! Their story is getting deeper, just as their love and devotion to each other and it's twisting and turning into a beautiful tale. This couple, combined with Robin's raw writing style is taking my heart with them. ✨♥️♥️♥️

It is the things she does. It is the words she speaks.
It is the stillness she brings to his angry soul.

I loved getting to see Leilani growing into her powers bit by bit and Keanu falling more and more for her.

Peace is the way to live. Violence is only a way to survive.

And the villains!! The twins were something else and while I loved Haku, I also can't wait to see what's going to happen with Madam Deep cuz I got a feeling that it's going to be one malevolent mess😍😍.

“There are other ways,” he said, “to break the rules—and to break free.”

"The Waves of Him" is really Keanu’s story. Keanu keeps flashing back to the time when a bottle washed up on shore with a note asking for help. A girl, Leilani was trapped on an island and was asking for anyone to come and save her. Keanu became so caught up in Leilani’s story that it consumed his life and all he wanted was to find this girl and save her.

Evil twins find out about Leilani’s secrets and want her for themselves and will do whatever they must to have her. When they hear about Keanu they use him against her. The evil twins want to destroy Keanu to get him out of the way making it easier for them to take Leilani as their bride.

When Leilani hears that the twins want to get rid of Keanu she makes a deal with them. She will become their bride if they promise not to hurt Keanu.

The twins take Leilani to their castle in the ocean. Keanu promises Leilani that he will save her from the evil twins.

"The Waves of Him" was an awesome read and I enjoyed it just as much if not better than its predecessor "The Sea of Her". "The Waves of Him" is just as mysterious with loads of plot twists that kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for all the twists to unravel and the whole story to be revealed.

The world-building is so wonderfully amazing. I loved all the characters as they played their roles well. Each character is unique in their own way and brings a lot to the story. I can’t wait to dive into the next book “The Tide of Her” in "The Sea of Her" series.

Grab your copy of "The Waves of Him" today for another great adventure in the world of "The Sea of Her". Be sure and grab a copy of book one "The Sea of Her" also and I do suggest reading it first.

‘He was like the waves of an ocean raging in a storm.’

-The Waves of Him (The Sea of Her 2),Lynn Robin.

Daarom geef ik “The waves of him” van Lynn Robin 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 sterren!!

Dit (e-) boek mocht ik ontvangen als recensie exemplaar van de auteur in ruil voor een eerlijke recensie, bedankt hiervoor!

While book one was about meeting the sweet, scared and hurt Leilani, in this book I saw a different side of her, and Keanu. Leilani is less lost, Keanu ploughs through the memories he has of his past, and what gave him the urge to find the writer of the letters in the bottle.

His and her stories are knitted well together, their past, present and future is linked. Was it meant to be? I think they are stronger together, and when they are together they are stronger individually.
The setting is beautiful; tropical islands, white beaches, awesome sea creatures, and lovers versus villains and a village of scared people.

(I know the date here on Goodreads says expected publication 24th August 2021, but I saw it was already on Amazon, so I snatched the paperback up, so not an ARC but verified sale.)
