Merry Mersey Christmas: Large Print Edition
As Liverpool's Special Murder Investigation Squad prepares for Christmas, Detective Inspector Andy Ross receives a phone call. Someone has murdered Santa Claus (well, a department store Santa). As the officer on call for the night, Ross attends with his sergeant Izzie Drake, and begins one of the strangest investigations of his career. With the main suspects being Santa Claus himself, in cahoots with an elf, Ross needs luck - and lots of it - as he seeks to solve the mystery of A Merry Mersey Christmas. This is the large print edition of A Merry Mersey Christmas, with a larger font / typeface for easier reading.

A Merry Mersey Christmas: Who Killed Santa Claus, a short story written by Brian L. Porter, is a holiday introduction to several of the wonderfully depicted characters in the Mersey Murder Mysteries. I've now read 9 of the 10 books in this collection and have the most recent one on my Kindle for later this year. You don't need to read this one in any particular order, as it's a stand-alone story... but it always helps to know there are side stories where you might learn something out of order.
Someone killed Santa?!? Don't let it be true... but what if he or she is a bad Santa? The clever detectives in this special police force are hoping to have a quiet holiday. Unfortunately, one murderer won't let that occur. When a little girl and her mother see something strange happen with Santa, they quickly try to escape the store, but the murder is discovered and no one believes the girl when she tries to explain another Santa and his elf were involved. A great way to tease current fans and lure in new ones. Good writing. Memorable characters. Witty dialog. Strong scenes and settings. It hit the spot as I begin to take on a few holiday stories early in the fall season. Now I can't wait to read the latest in the series.

A lovely short Christmas story based on Brian Porter's Mersey Mystery series.
When a department store Santa is murdered the only witness is young ("I don't tell lies") Maisie Poole. The usually cynical Detective Constable Tony Curtis does believe her and the hunt begins for "Bad Santa" and his Elf accomplice.
It's a perfect seasonal short read and ends with DC Curtis receiving a surprise Christmas present as DI Andy Ross and the team celebrate another successful 'case solved.'

A Merry Mersey Christmas - Review by Martha A. Cheves
Unable to contain himself, Andy Ross took hold of his wife, one hand on each shoulder, and pulled her to him, gave her a short but loving kiss and whispered in her ear, "Someone just killed Santa Clause!"
"Andy, don't play silly buggers with me. Come on, what's happened to drag you out at this time of night?"
"I just told you. Someone killed Santa," he looked her in the eyes and Maria could tell he was deadly serious.
So, why would someone kill the most loved person in the world? Who would kill the most loved person in the world? Of course this Santa is really Daniel Thomas, a mall santa that someone decided to give the gift of a knife in his neck. But again I ask - why?
This short story will take you into the usual murder mystery that Andy Ross and his Specialist Murder Investigation Team are known for solving, but it also takes you to a kinder side of the team that you don't normally see. It shows both sides of the writing art that evolves from Author Brian L. Porter. And if you like this short story, you'll love the other books in the Mersey Series. I sure have.

Nice little Christmas story about a good Santa and a bad Santa.

When Ross & his team are called out to the murder of ‘Santa Claus’ at a local department store, they fear that their own festivities may be cut short. However, thanks to the keen eye of a young witness, it isn’t long before they have the case wrapped up & the culprit apprehended. With Porter’s signature flair & ability to portray human nature at its finest, this is a great mystery to read by the fireside with a little tipple on Christmas Eve.

A Merry Mersey Christmas: Who Killed Santa Claus? By Brian L. Porter
A review by Pete Adams
Seasonal Love and Murder - a Cherished Tale
I have been reading all of the Mersey Murder Mysteries and thoroughly enjoying them. It was therefore a treat to learn of this gem of a vignette featuring the team of Liverpool's Special Murder Investigation Squad. If you have not read any of these books then you must. I personally have come to like the characters every bit as much as Porter’s consummate story telling.
Two days before Christmas and a down at heel department store Santa gets knifed in the throat. The team are called out and, a star witness of the murder and, star of this short story, is a 10 year old girl, Maisie.
We are treated not just to the casual and enjoyable team banter, but to a sensitive questioning of a little girl, who, does not tell lies – lovely, and this filled me with seasonal warmth and, I read this in October with a cup of tea and no mince pie.
A guide for your Christmas list, but only if you have been good: “Dear Santa – I have been good, honest, and like Maisie, I don’t tell lies. Please bring me the set of Mersey Murder Mysteries along with the Christmas Special short story. Signed (insert your name) PS – I hope your neck gets better.

Do you have a policeman in the family or as a friend? If so, the paperback of this small book will make an ideal stocking filler. Throughout his award-winning Mersey Mystery series, author Brian L. Porter shows his respect for the diligence and hard work of our British police.
In this book, he skilfully portrays the beautiful character of ten-year-old Maisie, and it is through her eyes that we get a child’s perspective of the police force, not to mention her role as key witness that leads to the swift apprehension of killers of a department store Santa.

As described, this is a very short book slipped into the Mersey Murders' canon. Size aside, it's always great to slip back into Brian's writing and his now well-established characters. It was a great little filler to shorten the gap between books 6 & 7.

What a disappointing story. After having read and enjoyed some of his books I felt aggrieved that he would put his name to such trite rubbish. Insulting to readers.
