Quantum Computing: 2021 Programming the Universe

Rate this book
Quantum computing systems are devices that use the phenomena of quantum superposition and quantum entanglement to transfer and process data. Such devices operate with qubits (quantum bits), which can simultaneously take on the value of both a logical zero and a logical one. Therefore, with an increase in the number of qubits used, the number of values processed simultaneously increases exponentially.

The first quantum computers are reminiscent of old bulky computing systems and come in large cabinets 10 feet (about 3 meters) high and 700 cubic meters in volume. feet (about 20 cubic meters). At the same time, the size of the quantum chip itself is quite small and comparable to the size of a thumbnail.

Most of the rest of the computer space is occupied by cooling and shielding systems. They are designed to create the necessary conditions for the functioning of a computer and eliminate external influences. Thanks to the use of a liquid helium-based cooling system, the temperature of the quantum chip is at the level of -273 ° C.
