This catechism which you hold in your hands is intended to be an introduction to the Baptist Catechism . It should be used by parents, Sunday School teachers, and pastors to instruct the very youngest of children in the basics of the Christian religion and to prepare them for catechesis in the Baptist Catechism once a good foundation has been laid.
This is as described, very aptly and appropriately, an introduction to the Baptist Catechism, for ostensibly ‘little ones’, but honestly, it’s also very much an important piece of literature perfectly pertaining to adults too! especially parents who have young children and, for some of those who are alike myself, a grandparent. It’s titled Milk for Little Ones, yet! don’t be mistaken nor misguided by the use of the word ‘milk’, for it is still important to remember and understand that milk is inherently and incredibly nutritious and, it, by analogy, is meant to be consumed daily until the child is mature enough to begin eating more substantial offerings, such as meat. So, even though it is akin to a booklet, it still is of such substance that it can be used as a reference book, and one that can be used alongside other quality books, especially the Bible.
This book is perfect for family worship, with both children and adults. It is very clear and understandable for the kids, yet not overly theological for the adults.
Recommend this book, as well as the other four titles in the “Recovering our Confessional Heritage” series.
Helpful resource. Some answers could potentially be more simplified for children. Wish this had a brief section that provides suggestions for parents or describes how to catechize.
