Absolutely YES! In many studies, CBT has been demonstrated to be as effective as, or more effective than, other forms of psychological therapy or psychiatric medications, treating a wide range of problems.

There is no information on the author, there are no resources for ANY information given in this book, only fine print that this is for entertainment purposes only...meanwhile, people who suffer from anxiety or any other mental disorder know there is nothing entertaining about it.
This book also uses a method for anxiety that some therapists think makes anxiety worse.
If you’re looking for an intro to CBT, this will work, but it really just glosses over the main categories of use with not a lot of time spent on the actual work.
Please note when you read books like this they are not a replacement for therapy. I know therapy is expensive and hard to come by so a cheap book sounds good, but a lot of the things CBT entails needs to be guided by a therapist to work best. When I do CBT techniques with my clients, there’s a LOT of guidance needed to support changing thought processes in a helpful way, as well as preventing re-traumatization. One “exercise” they talk about is exposure therapy. This is something that is very controlled in therapy, in which the therapist ensures you are in a safe space and that the experience will be calm and safe and will not expose you to furthering the trauma…. Doing this as a self exercise may not be the best idea depending on your phobia or your trauma and may cause more harm than good. This book doesn’t go into much detail about any area of content and makes it seem like some surface level worksheets/questions will fix everything.
The last chapter is on self harm and suicide assessment - if you are feeling these thoughts, please know that asking for help is important and often putting together these plans require someone to help you work through them.
CBT will help you identify your negative thinking patterns through exercises in the workbook. Once you do that yiu can focus in what's going on now. The therapy is helpful to anyone with past trauma, ADHD, PTSD, major stress, phobias, anxiety. Manage your thoughs so you can function and have a better life. I am able to turn off the noise in my head and get more work down. Use the techniques, practice will help you. You'll uncover reasons and realize you can let go or manage your thoughts.
This is not a book for everyone to read cover to cover as there are some topics that may not be applicable. The first 2 chapters are general enough for everyone, then you can skip to the chapters that are applicable, otherwise the book will be slow to get through. This book is easy to understand and has enough "workbook" content to have the reader actively participate. The cost of the book is significantly cheaper than a therapy session so I recommend it for someone is considering therapy and wants to scratch the surface of some rooted issues.
Very short book that provides general and somewhat generic suggestions for overcoming anger, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, phobias, and depression. It was really more of a short reminder of good and easy tools to use, not groundbreaking, but easy to read and follow. It does not dive deep into any particular area though, so would recommend a different book if you're looking for something more specific and focused.
I gave this book to my friend after I read it to help her work thru some issues. Cognitive Behavior Therapy has helped both of us. The exercises were particularly eye opening.
